Nick Saban started 10-15 against top 25 teams in his first 25 games btw, starting from his first P4 job at Mich State.

Oklahoma beat Alabama in:
Total yards 362 - 260
Time of possession 33 - 26
Total plays 75 - 54
First Downs 18 - 12
Third down conversions - Okla was 7 - 18 Bama was 2 - 12
Kinda scary!

lol, i'm about to tell on myself. just a few days ago, i literally told my brother that part of ckd's problems are his soft voice. his actual voice is soft. where sabans voice has an edge to it, deboers has no edge, its just soft.
i actually like ckd and hope he has an extended run at bama. if he can traverse the bama learning curve, i do believe it will be worth it for him and us.

Saban was a chain smoker for years, I don’t know if he’d quit before he came here, that’s a big reason for the edge in his voice.

Imagine the amount of shite posting about the offense had message boards been a thing during the Stallings era
maybe you are not aware but message boards were a thing even in Stallings era.
There was a UA listserv group then. I believe I used to login to UA IBM 3090 XA to access it .. could be wrong about how I accessed it. memory is fading

I did not know that .. he seems very healthy for a chain smoker

Thats not a fair comparison at all. Even Shula wins 10 games at Bama

His smoking in his younger days was mentioned in Monte Burke’s biography of him. I would wager he quit some time ago.

However, if I’m on the opposite side of you on a take, I’m feeling really good about being on the correct side. Downvotes can be a pretty decent tell for non-alters as well. This board hates facts (and opinions) that aren’t ultra positive unless it’s after a loss.

Funny - the Film Guy agrees with me on the tyrant thing. We need someone with fire (ff to about 19 minute mark where he talks about DeBoer being a pro coach and not a college coach)

I watched it. I like that guy but he doesn’t seem to understand either that these aren’t young men who need to be molded anymore, they’re mercenaries motivated by money just like pro players who have complete unfettered freedom to walk right now if a coach makes them mad. That’s a tough pill to swallow in Alabama where we believe in God and country and respecting authority and minding your momma and daddy, and your football coach, but it is what it is.
I think DeBoer is very intense. You can see it in his eyes. But it’s an inward intensity not an outward intensity. And we just had 17 years of some of the most outward intensity in the history of the game. Which skews the contrast.

He switched to copenhagan, the first few years he was here my buddy washed his car, said the backseat was full of empty cans.

This isn't new for us to disagree. It's all good.

I gave you an upvote, you’re one of the good guys here. We will see what the future holds.

You get it. A lot of these couch coaches haven’t figured it out and aren’t likely to anytime soon.

Brother, I’ve had middle school coaches in 3 different sports be more detailed oriented and better situationally than DeBoer. Some of us have coached, played, and/or refereed at different levels of the game and understand what can be coached vs. what can’t. When to snap the ball on a punt is 100% controllable by the head coach…starting at about 5th grade.
Bama needs to hire this guy if CKD leaves. Some call him the saban of the vaunted middle school league. What a clown.

So were you a big Kiffin Fan and think he would have ever come to Alabama.
Has Kiffin ever won anything as a head coach?

I will never understand anyone putting it all out there for Kiffin. Dude is not the second coming of Saban, he’s such a freakin troll clown 80% of the time. I’m not saying he’s incapable of moderate success, but he’s not this football savant that some fans are now envisioning him to be. Also, if he has any level of success at LSU, dude is gonna bail and go back to the NFL first whiff of that he gets. He’s akin to a hot chick that is appealing for a time, but jumps to the next dude so the novelty doesn’t wear off and contributes to the aura of being such a prize. Lmao

They were talking on JOX about how DeBoer is a totally different beast in the locker room. We got a glimpse of it when he came out of the tunnel vs Tennessee. Dude looked like he was about to ready destroy somebody for that brief stretch before shifting into PC coach mode.
Also got a glimpse when the obvious DPI on Bernard wasn't called early in the OU game. He was losing his mind on the ref involved.
So yeah, don't think the guy's soft just because he doesn't scare the shite out of people in press conferences like Saban did.
