Wow, just wow. How miserable does one’s life have to be to come up with an OP like this? I hope you get help and learn what true joy feels like (reality too).

I respect Ty's comments and agree that just chasing the bag at another school would have severely diminished how he was thought of.

Of course I don't think he REALLY had a choice to make. He's projected as a first round pick...that's still better than any NIL hired gun for a year offer.

Now would he be saying he'd never transfer to another school if he was projected as a late round pick and had those big offers on the table while potentially having to compete to keep his starting spot at Bama? Highly unlikely...and I wouldn't blame him. But it worked out for him all around if his draft grade holds true.

As for legacy...outside of winning the natty, beating all of our main rivals while leading the team to the playoff quarterfinals is about as good as it gets.

Absolutely. I’ve never started a season at QB for Alabama. Not that many people living have. He’s a team captain. He won a playoff game. Beat our two biggest rivals.

This post honestly shows how effed up some of our fans expectations are. “He didn’t win a natty….oh he doesn’t have a legacy!”

Ridiculous! Where were these fans from 1993-2008? Do none of those players have a legacy?

He’s a likable guy so if the NFL doesn’t work out he can probably go into coaching or media here in Alabama and would have blown that if he transferred. In terms of his actual accomplishments, I’d say he’s similar to JPW (helped transition eras and an SECCG appearance).

I don’t see it that way. But I don’t care. I also dont care about Ty’s legacy. But maybe he does.
But your opinion seems way off base. But I don’t care about that either

I don’t feel like I’m an old head by any means but I guess I was in undergrad 20 years ago. So I know that well. I think Demeco Ryans has a meaningful legacy here. He was the best player from my time on campus. I don’t think the lack of rings changes the fact he’s one of the best linebackers to suit up here.

With that said, 17 years of Saban is long enough that I have a younger brother-in-law in his early 20s that can’t remember the days of losing to Minnesota in the Music City Bowl or Oklahoma State in the Independence Bowl. I fear we’re probably going to see more posters from that generation. Not saying OP is a kid or anything but this attitude is probably going to be more common in our fanbase.

I was there, at 9am, to watch Spencer Pennington give what he had to give and recognizing CFB just wasn’t his sport (injuries weren’t his fault and rumor is he apologized to the team in the locker room). The only worse game I can remember sitting through was the 2000 Iron Bowl 9-0 loss in freezing sleet to cap a 3-9 season that started with us ranked #3. Good times, good times

His mom was my dentist. I remember asking her how he felt about the Mike Price hire before he decided to recreated the Tip Drill video by Nelly

I didn’t ask her about any more shite after that.

I didn’t want to open the door to dragging other people down. We all in our 40s now. No need to think too hard about how we were as teenagers.

Spencer is a good guy though.

I don’t think Ty was referring to Jalen at all. Jalen’s situation was completely different as he did not leave for money but for an opportunity to start, grow as a QB, and enhance his chances of playing in the NFL. That’s his career.

Before he left he enhanced his reputation for being one of the most gracious, understanding and wise players to ever come through Alabama or all of college football for that matter. This was in the face of being displaced as a very, very successful two-year starter and having his career and millions of dollars taken from him because of the presence of a generational talent that was superior to him. Very few people could have handled it in the poised and generous way Jalen did.

Btw, he sought the Alabama HC for advice as to what to do. He didn’t stomp out with hurt feelings.

Much more could be said.
