Did Saban start Mac to have a shot at keeping Tua?

Hear me out. I theorize that Saban felt so confident in our offensive gameplay against Auburn that it didn’t matter which an played. Obviously this was a mistake because he didn’t anticipate MJs turnovers.
Point 1. It is now well documented that Tua is considering staying and other players are considering staying with him. I feel confident saying that this didn’t just start with Tua’s injury. QB is the a spot where 1st round(even as high as 1 overall) comeback for their senior year(both Manning’s, Luck, Tebow and many others) these guys had been talking about all coming back all year and the coaches obviously knew it.
2. Taulia has played in 3 games. Had he started at Auburn he would’ve played in the bowl and burned his redshirt.
3. If Taulia was the backup Tua would’ve been very unlikely to return and still his bro’s spot

Mac is better than Taulia. That’s why he played

If Tua stays and exercises the Tebow effect on other juniors, Alabama will of had the best 2020 recruiting class in the country. And it's not close.

“ Mac is better than Taulia. That’s why he played”

We better hope this isn’t true.

I don't get it. Why do we need to hope this isn't true. Course, I have no idea. I hope they're both great.

If Mac played for LSU or Georgia we would be mocking them about their future at QB.

I don't know why we have to overrate some players just because they wear crimson.

I've been mocking Georgia fans for over a year that Fromm is always a day late and a dollar short in games that matter most. Now, the dawg fans are telling me the same thing.

But I normally save my mocking until I see their game for a while. Mac could easily be better than Fromm.

I think he started him because you can’t really run an offense without a quarterback.

If any player is being overrated in this thread, it's Taulia.

yup, love these Monday morning QB fans.

It's both sad and laughable.

I never felt we over-rated our football players too much, but my God you should go over to the basketball page. They think Herb is the next Lamar Odom

I give you an A for effort - literally "effort" - but an F on nearly everything else.

First, Mac Jones is presently better than Taulia based on all available information. What makes you think Tulia would start over Mac...I'll never know.

Your theory is both bad and false. Saban was very concerned going into the Iron Bowl and said so directly.

You should not feel confident in this at all. "Ashamed at your wrongness" would be a better feeling.

Finally, none of your OP made sense. Why would burning Taulia's RS give him the 2020 starting job? What could possibly make you think Saban was so illogically confident in the IB offensive gameplan? How could you possibly call starting and playing Mac in the IB a "mistake"?

All in all, thanks for giving me something to do for a few minutes, but all in all, this OP was one of the worst in recent memory.

Are you kidding me? Mac Jones played fantastically this year on the whole, and outshined even the highest of expectations. Dude's got the 3rd best 2020 Heisman chances in Vegas right now. Are you high? Have you been freebasing ground-up moon rocks?

Meh. Mac played really well and has been universally praised in the media. Bama's offense is gonna be crazy next year no matter who's at QB.

There's only like 12 guys who could win that award anyway, those being the 11 statistically best offensive players (and one crazy elite defender if he exists) on the best 8 or so teams in any year. Any good Bama QB is going to be high on that list, as would any good QB for Clemson, Ohio St, etc.

And Face it: Mac Jones is good. That has been proven and is simply a fact.

Agreed. Mac is very average. Nothing special about him at this point. That could change. Joe Borrows nickname was Average Joe last year. I’d be shocked if Mac starts for us all season next year.

Because Mac is not the type of qb that can win a championship with an avg Saban defense that’s why. We need Taulia or Young to beat him out and play lights out.
