I brought this topic up yearly a year ago and most of you told me to wait until around the end of this season to ask this question..

So what do y'all think?
Personally to me he hasn't lived up to even half of the hype he got out of high school.

That's a dumb question honestly. Analyst were talking about a position change as well. He wasn't even a 5 star on every site but when he has played he has done well so I don't see how he could be a bust as a sophomore. Don't know what some of you expect out of these kids at times.

Sophomore slump.

For such a big man, he does much better on the edges than inbetween the tackles. If he doesn't have solid blocking on the interior, it's really hard for him to get a full head of steam.

He had a great Sugar Bowl. The had great games against West Virginia and Florida, played well against Tennessee and Texas A&M, and despite struggling had a big carry in O.T. against LSU. Has he been a superstar, no, but he has been very vital to this teams success!

He is not an inside runner! Slow feet, height, and lack of burst.
When he gets outside though, he is tough to stop!

If you look at his HS tape, that's where a majority of his yards would come. He would bounce to the outside and just outrun everyone down the field.

I agree he doesn't have great burst but he is one of those RBs that gets better as time goes on. He doesn't get enough touches IMO

I noticed that. Just go look at some of our games. Check out how Yeldon moves through the crowd vs Henry. Night and day difference.

Bust? No. Over-hyped? Clearly.

Oklahoma wasn't the only thing being crowned coming out of the Sugar Bowl.

To the op, Henry is what he is. He is a very good back but I don't think he can be a feature back like Lacy, Ingram, and TR.

Truly amazes me how many jump to conclusions from so little. The same posters who defend Ingram against getting bashed as a Bama bust, because he isn't getting enough touches.... can bash Derrick Henry when he is in the same position.

Dude will be a great back. He shares carries and we haven't run a that much this season.

Anyways, don't let facts stop you guys!

Not one time have I bashed Henry or any other Bama player.......ever!

I look at the way he runs and I don't see a back that is near the lever of MI, TR, EL, or TJ. It may change but, that is the way I see it right now.

You read too much into someones' post!

There are no facts that say he is better than the previous four. If there are, please provide a link.

So every running back that isn't better than the previous four is a bust? I know I quoted you so there is a misunderstanding, but that post wasn't referring to you it was referring to those above you. You were just the last post so I quoted it. You said that Derrick Henry is a good RB. I agree.

I'm done with this topic. It's silly and a rush to a bad conclusion. This time next season the tune sung will be different (Don't worry FS, I know I won't be able to say "I told you so" or bump this thread )

I'm completely convinced that it doesn't matter what we do or how we win, somebody in our fan base is gonna find something to bitch about.

Blowout at home = bitching
Tough game on the road = bitching
Qb plays great = bitching
Qb plays bad = bitching

The only times I can remember no bitching is after we win the National Championship. But as soon as spring ball starts back up, so does the bitching.

I don't think so. He has been a bit disappointing this year, but I think the offensive line hasn't been what we are used to. As others have said, outside the tackles, he is phenomenal, but on the inside, he isn't that great.

I didn't see any bitching after the A&M game.
