Interested on the number of 3 and outs our offense has per game. The longer sustained drives and even penalties seems to come in the second half when the defense is getting tired. So could the problem be with the offense not maintaining possession.
2021 Offense ranked 6th overall
Total snaps on offense 74.5 per game average
2022 Offense ranked 4th overall
Total snaps on offense 68.9 per game average
2023 Offense ranked 24th overall
Total snaps on offense 63.3 per game average
2024 Offense ranked 10th overall
Total snaps on offense 60 per game average
We have seen offense reduced by 20% the number of snaps which will mean the defense will be on the field longer. This has been a downward trend for 4 years now suggesting our offense is not very efficient, especially the last two years. I am not sure where to find out the number of 3 & outs a team has.

Some part of that is the clock rules. Only 2 teams are averaging 80 plays per game (and exactly 80 at that) and 14 teams are averaging 75 or more plays per game. In 2021 4 teams averaged over 80 plays per game and over 27 averaged over 75.
Plays are down overall, but Bama is down more than average.
I think the defensive issues are more to do with the defense, not the offense. Teams have had plenty of success in situations in which they are rested.

Not necessarily, look at the correlation between this and scoring offense. We’ve been very explosive, at times.

Alabama has one of the most efficient offenses in the country. We are averaging the second most points per play this year.

Barmore no. Williams yes but look at the 2016 DL and what we have had since then. Bama DL has not been the same in a long time. Solid players but not game changers.

Barmore was MVP of the national championship game in 2020, was 1st team All American. What are you talking about? He's the highest paid player for the New England Patriots.

Alabama was down last year as well compared to previous years and that was under a different staff.

I would still be interested in seeing what our stats are involving 3 and outs.

I honestly think they will figure it out and become pretty good.

Barmore had an average season and showed up and out the end of the year. It was discussed at great length here. I don’t know why this is even an argument Bama has not had a great front seven in a long time.

Maybe. I hope. We need to blitz more than just 9% of opponents’ offensive snaps. And as others have pointed out, our DL splits look way too wide. Our ILB room needs to start playing significantly better, but I’m not optimistic about that. Lawson looks like the same player as he was last year and Campbell appears to have regressed.

No argument here, but you did say “Alabama has not had elite DT since 2016.” We had Da’Ron Payne in 2017 and Quinnen Williams in 2018. After that, Barmore and Mathis have probably been our most productive/disruptive, but you are right, I wouldn’t consider them elite at the college or pro level - very good, but not elite.

When a guy is a 1st team All American, National Championship MVP, and the highest paid player on his NFL team but isn't elite you have a really strict definition of elite.

Ole Miss has a top 5 FEI defense right now.
We’re at 13.

This is stupid and you should feel shame and embarrassment for saying Golding can coach better than anyone. Give the guy a complete season with the 3 true freshman playing in the secondary before you say such blasphemy. It’s a new system and a lot of new faces. I’m sure you’re a great person, but just stop with the Golding nonsense. Criticizing Womack is fine, but I’m not going to remain silent when you bring up that clown of a coach

When 0 and 11 are your starting ILBers then you have a big problem.
I don’t know why everyone is jumping on Lawson this season. He’s playing good. Also Jihad is the same player this season that he was a year ago and I don’t remember seeing one negative comment about him last season. He’s a great athlete and an average linebacker. Lawson on the other hand is a really good linebacker. Not the best we’ve had, but better than most of our opponents
