Nobody plays defense like the big ten. Amiright? Or nobody plays offense like the big ten.

Illinois has a stud, young DC. Hint hints if our DC leaves.

He looks like he's lost some weight. Back down under 400.

Our defense is the shite. Tennessee finds out Saturday.

I thought the defense was decent yesterday. Not as bad as people think but also not their best. Offense kept putting them in tough spots

How many snaps did the defense play?

This is just a theory and probably a stupid one but it’s almost like every time there’s an immediate possession change (fumble, int, missed fg) our defense is asleep when it comes on the field. Like they are on the sideline catching a break, not paying attention and then bang we’ve gotta go out and play. Almost every successful possession A&M had last night came after an immediate possession change.

The defense played great against A&M. A&M while they are under-achieving they are very, very talented. So, if you give their offense a short field repeatedly because of turnovers they will score multiple TDs.

I agree completely and I said before the game. All those 5 stars are gonna figure it out eventually and start making plays. The defense played solid. King was running for his life. Problem is when we delay blitz and then don’t fill the area we blitz from. It’s a guaranteed completion every time.

They’ve done a good job in terms of stopping offenses but they’ve been pissed poor in terms of takeaways. They’re tied for third to last in takeaways this year.
And if you think about it, Texas A&M forced four turnovers with our backup QB in there that led to a bunch of points for their offense. How come our defense couldn’t do the same thing to Haynes King and Texas’ backup QB Hudson Card? Those guys might not have been very effective but they never looked as uncomfortable and under duress as Milroe looked last night. Our defense has been very ineffective at creating big plays period.

I think the stats SOG posted kinda tell that story. We play very sound, fundamental defense. Because of that we don’t give up many big plays but we also don’t gamble on trying to get takeaways. I don’t like it and wish we could create more turnovers but I’d rather us not miss tackles than punch at the ball every time and miss 10 tackles a game.

So true. It's the coaching/scheme. You guys remember how the secondary had a big uptick in interceptions when Mel Tucker coached them for a season? We need some of that in our defensive coaching again. We have talented playmakers on our defense.

I have said and will continue to say our defense is good. They keep every game within reason.
Yeah our young corners mug people sometimes but they keep busted coverage to a minimum and fight there arse off on contested plays.

Man some of our fans will never be satisfied with the way our defense plays. I don't know if it's the Golding hate that has them blind to anything good they do or what. It's literally a no win situation for the players for whatever reason. Our defense was pretty damn stout last year and people still think they sucked at times. This year, they are playing their asses off and yall are bitching about the turnovers. Yea that would be nice but they are getting more pressure on the QBs than ever, absolutely shutting the run game down and it's still not good enough for some of you.
The plays they do give up are more so the other offense executing the play to absolute perfection or just straight up lucky as hell to make the play. With the rules favoring the offense, that's just the reality we live in. Our offense repeatedly put our defense in no win situations last night and they got the job done.

Bama turnovers and a couple busted coverages/jump balls kept A&M in the game. I thought the Bama defense played pretty well and that YPP confirms it for me.

Seriously, our defense so far is better than UGA's defense at this point in the season. College football nerds brought up the stats. We are very good defensively maybe even excellent.
