I used to read RBR and those SBNation team blogs a lot back in the day, and most of them (not all) were filled with guys who wrote well, did interesting work and had good back and forth with the other team blogs during game weeks and things. He, on the other hand, basically prided himself in being a Grade A dickhead. Then he'd have, shocker, emotional reactions to all sorts of stuff.
Just always seemed like the most typical "counter-culture brah" guys ever, and it drove me fvckin nuts. The rest of the site was great, but he ran it, so his shite would always end up popping up and it was awful.

Yeah, I could be wrong but I've been feeling BO'B with the clearly superior offensive talent Bama has is going to wreck some folks up pretty badly.

You have to be an active problem at Alabama at this point to fvck up the offense. I love Locks, but he's not some super gifted offensive genius, and while we had issues against the great defenses on our schedule, he also put up like 45 a game and had at the time one of the greatest offenses in CFB history. And now we are gonna act like a dude who ran the Patriots offense for 3 of their best seasons is so bad he's gonna not only not be good but be so bad and toxic that actively he loses us multiple regular season games?
That is a spicy hot take of radioactive proportions.

so kind of a Clay Travis light, except Travis is a Vol homer.

I'm a RBR regular and they do a great job for the most part. Josh, CB, Brent, Balloons, etc.. put out a lot of quality content. And Erik's betting articles are really good. I think he has something like a 75% success rate. But he may be letting his personal bias get the best of him here. Which is fine. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Hopefully he's wrong on this one.

Erik Evans from RBR posted his treatise on why BOB is a bad hire: LINK
He has multiple factual errors and other selective, i.e., misleading, statements. E.g., talks about him being a 9-7 coach (is that supposed to be bad in the NFL? It's better than Coach Saban, though IMO, Coach Saban did a good job in context.). Well, in the 2 years before his termination he was 10-6 and 11-5 which he omits. He HC'ed them to their greatest success as a franchise. Made the playoffs in 4 of the 6 years as HC, coming in 2nd in another year. Had one outlier year of 4-12, maybe injuries, IIRC. He did it with pedestrian QBs, which is an understatement.
He also majors in some minor issues.
He's a genuine Bama fan and smart in a sense, but appears to me to be somewhat full of himself and almost always pessimistic.
There may be some truth to some of his complaints but there are enough factual errors and shaky conclusions that he is easily dismissed.
O'Brien has a far better resume than Sarkisian, though that doesn't mean he is a better OC, play caller, play designer. CSS was fired after 2 years as NFL OC. Many Bama fans lamented his hiring. I was enthusiastic - the same with Kiffin.
In one year O'Brien turned Matt McGloin from a painful looking QB (looked like a bad HS QB) to one who played and started a little in the NFL. The transformation was incredible - the stats were better but not reflective of the improvement. You had to see the before and after. I cared nothing for PSU and knew nothing about O'Brien but for some reason had noticed how pathetic McGloin was and then saw the change and was amazed.
In the comment section a poster refutes Evans' last year observations about Watson's improvement, primarily related to the yawning chasm of difference in the defensive opposition between the two periods, which of course Evans omits. Really if one looks at the differences intelligently, it could construed as a testimony to O'Brien's coaching superiority. But IMO, the sample size and differences are too small to mean much either way. Btw, Watson praises the QB coaching he got from O'Brien and expresses his gratitude.
If it's a bad hire, which is always conceivable even if unrelated to any of the charges leveled by the poster, CNS will correct it.
Oh, did anyone think O'Brien was likely to stay more than 2 years? Sarkisian did not, Daboll was here for one year, Locksley one year, Nussmeir 2, Kiffin almost 3 and tripped up on the way out the door costing Bama a NC and Kiffin is a hero?

I agree. RBR is one of my daily reads, but I stopped commenting several years ago. And yes, Erik is very good at picking ATS

Lol I don’t read that site but I see the dudes loves to use hyperbole to try and make points
FFOR YEARZZZZ! Lol even if BOB isn’t good this dude is clueless. It’s saban that’s the consistency. Not OC’s.
Eta and lolz at this one:
Yeah saban has put himself in a bubble. He hasn’t changed anything, like the offense or anything. Still just going off his success from early Bama. He just ignores countervailing wisdom from dumbass fans
That dude is a character. He definitely likes to hear himself talk and has an agenda

That's conflating issues. I would hope we all abhor racism but that has nothing to do with being an attention seeking "anti gumping is my drug" a-hole.

Great looking staff. Looking forward to seeing what they can do on the field and on the trail in 2021!
