Urban Meyer is mentioned as the possible new head coach for the Jaguars. Strong was Meyer's DC at Florida. (btw: by saying this I'm not suggesting that Strong will become the DC in Jacksonville if Urban is indeed hired) not suggesting that Strong will become the DC in Jacksonville if Urban is indeed hired)

Urban Meyer has been hired by Jacksonville.

Hasn't Sark only taken Flood (a coach who he brought with him) and then Banks?

Also Milwee, but he and Flood are understandable.

From Chip Brown on the Texas 247 site (insert Chip Brown jokes here)

quote:

I heard Thursday the key to Golding being named the defensive coordinator at Texas would be Saban’s ability to hire Dan Lanning away from Georgia to replace Golding as Alabama's defensive coordinator.

If that happens, watch for Will Muschamp to join his good friend Kirby Smart as defensive coordinator at Georgia - Muschamp’s alma mater and also where Muschamp's oldest son, Jackson, is a walk-on football player.

Not gonna lie, sign me up for that 3 way trade.

Sounds good, but what is TW saying? Any new nuggets?

Nothing from TW

Also, laughed hard at this, as it was not posted ironically and I'm guessing the guy has no clue this exact pairing already happened at Alabama

Man just give Tosh Lupoi a Co DC title with Pete Golding calling the plays.

I actually feel better knowing it took an AHC title and a million dollars a year to leave Bama.

Bama could have matched if wanted. I guess Saban didn't want.

2)He decided that if he’s going to stay a position coach... Recruiting Texas kids to Texas and working for Sark is much easier than recruiting Texas kids to Alabama and working for Saban.

Makes sense.

Can we just bring Glenn Schumann home instead?

What's funny is when I read that I was assuming it was Schumann, but then realized it was Lanning.

Give me Schumann.

That was my first thought too. I was like, did Chipper mean Schumann? Don’t know I have ever heard of Lanning. Went with it because it you posting it.

Lanning was a GA at Alabama in 2015. Memphis hired him as LBs coach in 2016. Kirby hired him to replace Tucker in 2018.

Lanning is 34 and Schumann is 30. So both young guys you would expect to keep for a while.

From talking to some sources everyone on the coaching staff expected Banks to stay. At some point last night (or this am) he told Saban he was leaving and Saban told the rest of the staff this morning. Saban wasn't happy with this move. That isn't surprising. This was done pretty discreetly which also isn't surprising.

Saban is close to officially naming his OC I'm told. Have not confirmed Stoutland yet but am told Saban is moving along with that hire quickly. Lot of good options.

We will let you know if we get more.

Who actually calls the defensive plays at UGA? Does Lanning or Schumann?

I can't blame him for taking a HC position at Marshall. I'm just surprised Marshall is willing to turn their program over to a RB coach.

Why though? They aren't hiring a big-time coordinator at Marshall.

Because they let Doc Holliday go after 10 years and 85 wins?
