Brian Kelly leaving a potential playoff team before the post season to go take on a job that is an obvious cultural mismatch in hopes of winning a title in the future is beautiful. I hope he tells ND to join a conference in his press conference.

It's going to be interesting to watch. He has made a good decision by keeping the LSU cornerbacks coach and recruiting coordinator though.

I don't think ND will even entertain him now. I think it's Fickell, Campbell or current defensive coordinator.

Keeping Corey Raymond is a stipulation of any coach being offered the job.

Yeah ND has some great options to keep them from dealing with the inevitable mess Urban will leave behind.

Mark Stoops received a contract extension at Kentucky today. Of note though, he has not signed it yet. Maybe waiting to see if OU reaches out. I don't think they will.

If he brings Marcus Freeman with him they should be.

Notre Dame/LSU: Brian Kelly has offered the play-calling jobs at LSU to Notre Dame offensive coordinator Tommy Rees and defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman, reports 247Sports' Tom Loy. Both Rees and Freeman are under consideration for the head-coaching gig left vacant by Kelly when he jumped Monday to LSU.

Urban Meyer: Jacksonville Jaguars coach Urban Meyer has no interest in returning to college football, which effectively eliminates him from consideration at Notre Dame, a source tells the Associated Press. Meyer, however, is probably persona non grata in the college ranks. Eighty-five percent of athletic directors polled by Brett McMurphy of The Action Network revealed they would not consider him for a job.

LSU fans are definitely bipolar. Last week they were in denial and on suicide watch and this week defending the hire. a&m going back and forth defending the contracts is also humorous, but the are the AU fans that realize they have the worst coach in the SEC.

I also think USC hire may be the worst of the bunch.

Riley at USC- That's a homerun run, but can he get the job done on recuiting trail? If he get the team to playoff and still can't win playoff game, then it become a moot point.

Kelly at LSU- I actually think he made a lateral move. He is recuiting same kids that he was at ND. He is very good coach, but Being that hes now in SEC and doesn't really have a great record of winning against SEC team... If he can put together a solid team of coaches... he'll hang in there... When he has Arkansas, Alabama, TAMU, Kentucky, etc... Whew.. That's brutal. He had it made at ND.

I do not see it. He has a system that the right fit succeeds on offense but has yet to figure out the defense. Utah and Oregon have made it hard for teams in the PAC 12 to win without a defense. On offense he schemes well but gets way to much credit for developing QBs. He is a drop in and play. If it works great if not try again. Remember Baker, Kyler Murray, and Hurts all transferred in. The first two did while Stoops was the HC and Hurts was developed while at UA. His first true recruited QB he brought in he benched this year(sophomore). So time will tell does he get the right pieces to drop in his system and can he get a defensive system in place.

In regards to Kelly I think it is an upgrade for him. He was not recruiting the same kids at ND and can not compare how he did against the SEC when he did not have the same level of talent. But on the flip side that will be the key factor. Can he recruit on a daily basis against Saban, Kirby, Jimbo, and throughout the southeast. He does not have the connections but if he can put together a staff that has the connections he will be successful. ND was never going to go any farther than where he already taken it.
