Right. You have a new d coordinator running a new system that focuses on smaller bodies coming from everywhere. You have 7 guys all around the same size at the line of scrimmage and you don’t know who is rushing and who is dropping.

Well, if Oatis is on the line you know who is not dropping. I’m not advocating for or against the system or its merits. I’m just saying that is the system and that’s seemingly why we aren’t recruiting fat boys and that’s why Oatis was buried on the depth chart and left.

Here is the direct quote he gave:

“The new staff wasn’t for me. And once I found out that they didn’t mess with me, I knew it was time to get up and get out of there.”

It was mid October when he decided to redshirt and transfer.

Recruiting Rumor Mill: Inside 5-star pledge, flip talk, latest on upcoming decisions

From the article:

quote:

Another pair of top-100 overall prospects came off the board on Thursday, as Mobile (Ala.) St. Paul’s Episcopal five-star edge rusher Anthony “Tank” Jones chose Oregon, while Ogden (Utah) Freemont four-star athlete Salesi Moa pledged to Tennessee.

As his recruitment was winding down, Jones was fielding offers of over $1 million per year. The Ducks carried the momentum late into his decision and came out on top over Alabama and Texas A&M.

No way in hell were we offering over $1 million per year for Jones. That's ridiculous.

I would not be surprised at all if one of Tank Jones or KJ Ford flip to us and end up in this class.

Specifically with Tank, I imagine he will still make it to TTown for a visit (maybe multiple?) during the season, and if we are having a good year on the field, I could very easily see the excitement around the program and the pressure to stay home getting to Jones and his family. Who knows though - this is probably wishful thinking and NIL/Nike money is too much to overcome.

I could see it. I see Florida having a pretty tough year with that schedule and Napier being right back on the hot seat.

I could also see Oregon struggling a big this year. Dillon Gabriel was a winner everywhere he played and is getting mentioned with the Browns as basically being a coach on the field. Oregon in year two of having to do a lot of travel to the Midwest, their best receiver out for the year. Only problem is their schedule is soft as baby shite. They’d have to lose at Iowa or something.

They play at Penn State in September. The same day we play Georgia. PSU could make a big statement with a win right there.

I'm curious if things will finally click for Malik Benson. Thought he had a lot of potential but it just didn't work out for him at Bama or FSU. Right now it looks like he's projected to back up Dakorien Moore (Keelon's former teammate).

All I remember about Benson is the "insiders" spending months gassing him up as this elite talent before he couldn't even get on the field once the season rolled around.

Yeah. I mean the guy excelled at the JUCO level but when you can’t make a difference at Alabama or FSU then I can’t magically believe Oregon is going to unlock your potential. They aren’t especially known for their WR prowess.

The only excuse I’d maybe give him is that playing with Milroe and DJ U isn’t exactly favorable. But he didn’t even play with here to get missed because he couldn’t get on the field.

I don't think it's so much that Oregon is going to unlock his potential, but the guy is physically gifted, so if he was just struggling with the mental aspect and/or route running, it's possible that being in the third year at the D1 level will unlock his potential.

And yeah, DJU isn't going to help anyone thrive. With that said, I have no idea what Oregon's QB situation looks like, so maybe it won't be a huge upgrade over DJU.

They have former 5 Star Dante Moore that transferred from UCLA battling with a former 4 star I’ve never heard of Austin Novosad. I think Moore is projected to win the job.

I'm pretty sure James Franklin has a terrible record vs ranked teams.

As if the Rant wasn't bad enough I took a look at Reddit's CFB board yesterday. Lot of Oregon folks saying he silent committed to them in early July. That place has some of the worst takes I've ever read so take that for what it's worth.

And here's a closer look at what the offer letters actually look like:

At least on tRant it seems like most posters are just trolling. Whereas on r/CFB, I feel like those idiots actually believe what they post
