They'll go to any lengths necessary to convince themselves that they aren't a second tier program that can only steal recruits from the big dogs by paying a ton over market value or promising early playing time.

I mean they have the 9th deepest pockets in their own conference. The middle tier of the SEC should have been more apprehensive about the most recent additions

Thought he was pretty much a lock, but he's taking his time committing officially to 'Bama.

Just because something isn't public doesn't mean it isn't official, at least that is what I use to tell the women I dated.

Starting to think he is waiting to announce after or maybe during the cookout for the splash.

We haven’t paid enough for him to commit yet

Solid strategy.

Behind who? Seriously I'm curious. Obviously they're behind both Texas schools with their oil money and probably behind Arky with Tyson and Jerry Jones. But who else has more money to blow on their school than the yellafella? Dude is worth 1.5 Billion. The Barn is a shite school with a mid-tier football team but they aren't lacking in money.

They have paid a LOT of buyout money over the last few years. Theres probably some booster fatigue after two major buyouts, NIL for football and basketball, a new basketball arena, etc.

I don't understand how Auburn fans keep complete faith in their insiders. It's obvious they just say what the fans want to hear so they keep their subscriptions going. Hell, I canceled my BOL subscription because they mainly just yap. I can't even imagine paying for info that is consistently wrong.

The problem with relying on one person to support your NIL is you're one bad day away from not having much of an NIL. People think that just because they have a rich booster means they're going to always have a blank check, that's generally not the case.

I also can't imagine, doing that well and earning all that cash just to turn around and blow it on teenagers that may not even be at your school in a year or two. Doesn't sound like the wisest investment.

There are more “donors” who have Charles Barkley’s attitude towards it (he told AU on live TV to stop asking him for money) than not. Investment in NIL has very little material ROI. These guys don’t become millionaires/billionaires by throwing money around blindly.

Once you start looking at making billions of dollars it can’t be understated how hard it is to spend that type of money. At a certain point all your needs and wants are met 100x over and it’s all just what bullshite do you want to blow it on?

I look at my salary and proportionally the money I spend going to games and the time I devote to the team and I could definitely see where if I had that type of money I would want to see my team/community do well and to do that you have to get the Jimmys and the Joes.

Well, sure. That's how you end up with guys like Phil Knight who has decided to hand over his bank account to build a winner. In the near term, you're going to see several of these guys commit giant monies to their schools.

Unfortunately for Bama, we have exactly zero multi-billionaire alums. Hell, we don't even have a billionaire alum. Until something happens to create stability across the board, we have to rely on donors who are giving amounts that mean much more to them, even the guys who might be able to give millions.

And Oregon has exactly zero championships to show for it. Baseball has no salary cap and the Yankees haven’t won a World Series in quite a while. Theres more than one way to skin a cat. Oklahoma State had rich arse T Boone floating their program for years and have nothing to show for it.

Instead of having one big fish we have a lot of fish and also do well with merchandise sales. Something about quantity/quality the posters on this board are on about.

Why do they assign some conspiracy to every Bama recruit? Cunningham said it himself: Auburn doesn't put receivers in the league. Bama does. Every year.

Outside of Cam Newton, Auburn hasn't had an offensive skill player taken in the first round of the NFL draft since Carnell Williams & Ronnie Brown. Let that sink in. Thats twenty years now.

This is the first year he's taken restrictions off of what he'll pay for recruits. We'll see how it turns out.

His largesse to this point has been to the University, and it has been nothing less than transformative. He built the law school, a $500 million science campus, easily the best athletic facilities in the former PAC12. In fact, his pet project, the track facility is one of the finest in the world. He's thrown a billion dollars at the university and has $4 billion more sitting in a trust to dole out to them over time.

He died before there were NIL collectives. If he were still alive, he'd have been the first guy to go toe to toe with unlimited NIL funds.

Sure, we have lots of passionate fans, but don't underestimate the power of truly transformative money. There will never be a better time to be a college eligible free agent than the next couple of years.

Not just NIL money for players but he can offer long term endorsement deals with Nike for those that pan out with a path to the NFL

Josiah Sharma just flipped from Oregon to Texas. I guess they upped the NIL.
