TALLAHASSEE -- Five-star linebacker Nakobe Dean has been trying to get to Florida State for a visit for a few months, but each time his plans have fallen through. But not this weekend. Dean and his family arrived in Tallahassee on Thursday and stayed through the Seminoles Saturday Night Live event.

“It was great, I’ve never been, I didn’t know what to expect, but it was great,” Dean told Noles247. “I was trying to see how they coach here and everything. They showed me everything. The culture here is real chill, real laid back and real comfortable for me, actually. It matches my personality.”

Dean, from Mississippi, began his visit on Thursday and it will conclude on Sunday. Since it is his first trip to FSU, Dean spent a majority of his time with Willie Taggart.

“Coach Taggart is real cool, I feel comfortable, I feel more comfortable here than some places that I’ve been to a couple times. That’s very important, it’s up there with education. I just wanted to see it, give it a chance, I love it,” Dean said.

During the Saturday Night Live camp, Dean worked closely with linebacker coach Raymond Woodie. “Coach Woodie knows his ball, we’re always talking on the phone, constant communication is what I like about him.”

FSU running back Cam Akers is also from Mississippi and the two have bonded over the past few days. “We’ve been talking for the last couple days and I think I’m about to go hangout with him now. He’s great,” Dean said.

What about this visit stood out the most to Dean? “Definitely the culture, how everything is run, how cool and collective they are, how real they are. Them being an ACC school, I’m used to going to SEC schools, so I compare it a little bit.”

Dean goes back to school on August 6th. He says he plans on trimming his enormous list of offers down to a top five before his summer ends. He will then take all or most of his official visits in the fall and make a decision sometime in December.

When current Miami (Fla.) Southridge defensive back Tyrique Stevenson de-committed from Florida back in December, many predicted the 6-foot-1, 200-pound prospect would eventually pick the hometown Miami Hurricanes. At the time, Miami certainly had all the momentum in Stevenson’s recruitment.

As we enter the fall and Stevenson has taken several offseason campus visits, it appears a new team is now trending in this recruitment. The Georgia Bulldogs have received five new predictions for Stevenson on the 247Sports Crystal Ball in recent days.

Stevenson opted for a trip to Athens back in May over one to Florida for the Gators Great Grill Out. This past weekend, he returned to UGA again over Miami’s Paradise Camp. Sandwiched between those visits was another to Georgia in June. Miami continues to get Stevenson on campus as well, a benefit of being the local program.

Regardless, many see Georgia quickly becoming the team to beat in this recruitment the further it stretches out. The Bulldogs along with Miami and Penn State are three schools that Stevenson has mentioned as official visit destinations during the fall. He plans to be a December graduate and enroll early, therefore Stevenson plans to sign with the school of his choice during the Early Signing Period.

Earlier this summer, Stevenson put up impressive combine testing numbers at The Opening Finals in Frisco, Texas. There he blazed a 4.49-second forty and a 4.31-second short shuttle, while recording a 39 inch vertical jump.

The 247Sports Composite, an industry generated average, currently ranks Stevenson as the nation’s No. 75 overall prospect and the No. 9 cornerback in the 2019 recruiting class. However, 247Sports grades Stevenson much higher as he checks in as the No. 19 overall prospect and the No. 2 cornerback in the class.
