Practice film means nothing in terms of high level draft picks.

If he wants to be a 7th rounder or a UDFA, then he'll do something foolish like that.

In reference to Lewis and draft position: - Don’t underestimate practice film ( Frazier from last draft) - probably won’t be able to get an insurance policy I hope he comes back but anywhere in first 3 rounds would be a “go” unless he can get insured

I'm not sure Frazier is a good comparable. He played in 14 games his junior year and every game his senior year. He was also a 7th round pick, Lewis has first round potential.

I don't see how he goes with a 3rd round grade unless he is terrified of injury. That is less than a million guaranteed and a contract under 4 mil. He falls further than that it is a complete disaster. Healthy with a good season under his belt he is a low first, early second which a chance to go higher.

It is a gamble either way based on his injury history but unless he gets a 1st round grade he definitely shouldn't go imo, especially since, even if he gets a second round grade, he still might slide from there. I feel he comes back he is basically taking a 10 million contract/7 million guaranteed gamble on his health. I feel that is worth the risk especially since many players comeback from ACL tears now.

Saban always says unless you get a first round grade you shouldn't go. From mid 3rd down the contracts range from 3.5 to 2.5 mil. The biggest difference is the signing bonus which is around 850k for mid 3rd rounders. That is nothing to sneeze at but mid to late first round is going to be 5-10 million guaranteed. I think the pros far outweigh the cons to stay.

I’d be floored if Lewis turns pro after this year regardless of whether he returns this season or not.

He’s had a couple injuries but nothing crazy - he’s no China Doll.

Also, his injuries are unrelated and not the type you don’t fully recover from. It’s not like he has a bad knee he’s hurt several times, a chronic hip or concussions.

You guys are acting like he’s got my broken arse body.

yeah, the arm thing last year was just a freak occurrence, and how many guys go to the NFL with a repaired ACL or even 2? It's gotta be above 10%. These days they repair them better than new

I don't think that is the argument anyone is making. I stated most players recover well from ACL tears. Hell I'm a Frank Gore (49ers) fan for goodness sake. The argument is, at least mine, is about money. I believe he is taking more of a gamble coming out cause the chances of him sliding are extremely high especially in a draft that is full of pass rushers with him coming off an injury and having basically no game tape. If he goes and slides to the third which is highly likely he would cost himself millions. I may be wrong but I think this draft is loaded with guys that you wouldn't have to take a "risk" on Lewis in the early rounds.

It is all about his draft grade. He gets a 1st round grade, by all means go. But if he gets a second or worse moneywise he is likely making a huge mistake. The other thing is that I just can't think of anyone who has almost no game tape being picked highly in the draft.

I mean if he goes to the Ravens they will have all the deer antler spray he needs, but I think he is risking a lot of money.

Something on BOL about Bama’s dream class finish. Anyone see it? Full on sunshine, or realistic?

Both? Haha, it's a dream, but it's guys we have been led to believe we have a good chance at/lead for. Nothing really different than what'd you come up with in here if you looked at our highest ranked remaining targets--didn't appear to contain new information.

Lewis would be a fool to come out with a 3rd or 4th round grade when he's 1 healthy college season away from a 1st round pick and a huge contract that will make him a wealthy man for life. There's a reason Saban says guys should come back if they have anything short of a 1st round grade. Lewis would be wise to listen to Saban and I'm betting he will.

He wouldn't even get a 3rd or 4th rpund grade.

He'd end up going 7th or UDFA signing.

He would never do this. I don't even know why it's being debated. Smh at whoever brought this up as a possibility.

Man, the season can't come around soon enough. At least this discussion isn't quite as annoying as perpetual QB battle discussion that leads everyone around in circular arguments and gets beaten unmercifully into the ground like a dead horse. IT is, however, trending in that direction.

If you think Lewis would go in the 7th round or be a UDFA you're smoking. An ACL isn't what it once was. Not even close! We all saw Willis McGahee go in the first round after an ACL. We can go back further and I remember Rod Woodson having an ACL and came back and played in the Super Bowl. An Achilles or micro-fracture injury are way worse than an ACL.

Take off your crimson tinted glasses.

He hasn't consistently proven anything on the field and he has a history of injuries.

He needs to get on the field and show what he can do on a consistent basis and then teams will look to invest in him. They aren't Bama Homers who get offended at the idea of anything not pumping sunshine. They judge on a intrinsic scale and the reality is at this point Lewis has just shown flashes and is a lot of hype.

Why so many posts about a hypothetical on Lewis? None of us knows, so why worry about it? He may play this year. May not. Either way, it's way too early to speculate. That's like speculating on who will start in 2 years - Tulia or Tyson.

Hank's Dream Class Finish -- 10 Additions:

5* RB Trey Sanders 6-0/216 IMG/FL hudl
4* WR George Pickens 6-4/190 AL hudl AU
5* OC Clay Webb 6-4/285 AL hudl
5* OT Darnell Wright 6-6/314 WV hudl
5* DT Ishmael Sopsher 6-4/330 LA hudl
4* DE DeMarvin Leal 6-5/280 TX hudl ATM
5* OLB Kayvon Thibodeaux 6-5/235 CA hudl
5* ILB Nakobe Dean 6-0/215 MS hudl
5* S/CB Daxton Hill 6-1/187 OK hudl
4* CB Tyrique Stevenson 6-1/190 FL hudl

Even if we can take 28 and subtract Cheney, it's one too many. I bounced my finish list off Hank in the recruiting chat last week. Mine was the same, except I included Devonta Lee, Wright OR Evan Neal, and didn't include Pickens, Leal and Stevenson. My 9th addition spot was open. It's reasonably realistic except those three I didn't include on my list. They're tough pulls at this point in time.
