Taking another OT? Maybe there is another transfer coming down the line.

Boz just posted in another thread that “T is def gone.” So, it looks like we missed another top LB prospect.

You have to believe that Elliot will move on since he only gets on the field during warm-ups. That was one hell of a recruiting evaluation mistake on someone's part.

If true, that's VERY concerning as that's 2 years in a row. We desperately need to hit a home run at ILB in the 2020 class.

I think either rival or 247 talked about him as a possible five star. I know LSU tried to "steal" him at the 11th hour. Recruiting is still such an inexact science (especially with OL and Qbs).

Having said all that, shouldn't he be about to graduate. Also, he was one of the one's popped for drug test so he might not be eligible for a bit (at Bama or elsewhere). He might just call it a day.

One of the major needs for this class was ILB, looks like that will not be met.

How can Bama no longer get elite ILB?

He was the top OT in JUCO...
and yes he was popped in the BowlGame drug tests (so out for at least 4 games in 19)
But also he graduated in Dec '18 so he is most likely doing graduate work now or looking over his options for transfer..(tho not sure who would take him for a partial year...)

I asked in another thread, but Surge should be able to answer it. Let’s say we miss on To’oto’o, who is the back up? There are several othe OLB on the board that haven’t signed yet.

We have a 5 star that was a freshman last year in Kaho. We have two of the top eight ILB in the composite signed. This is nothing like last year, and we still have a shot with HT.

That is with no commitabble offer from Bama, commitable offer along with Bama pushing could easily change that. Has had real interest since summer.

Could 4-star Alabama signee Kevin Harris provide immediate pass-rush help?
(al.com | embedded highlights video)

quote:

Alabama signee and early enrollee Kevin Harris has an idea of how he'll fit into Alabama's defense. It just might also fill a key need in the 2019 season.

"I see myself as an outside linebacker there, off the edge," the 6-foot-4, 230-pound Harris said at the Under Armour All-American Game in Orlando, Florida. "I see myself … coming off the edge and sacking the quarterback."

Alabama loses defensive linemen Isaiah Buggs, who had a team-best 9 1/2 sacks, to graduation and Quinnen Williams (8 sacks) early to the NFL, and the Crimson Tide must find replacements for a pass rush that led the SEC with 45 sacks in 2018 and ranked tied for 11th nationally by averaging three sacks per game.

Linebacker Terrell Lewis is expected to make a full recovery from knee surgery, and Christian Miller -- Alabama’s leading returning sack artist after recording eight last season -- should have no long-term problems from the hamstring injury that kept him out of the 44-16 national championship-game loss to Clemson. LaBryan Ray showed flashes of pass-rushing brilliance last season, and 2018 freshman Eyabi Anoma is also seen as a frontline pass rusher.

Harris, a four-star prospect ranked as the nation’s No. 113 prospect by the 247Sports Composite rankings, possesses the explosion, speed and power needed to excel as a pass rusher. At Grayson (Ga.) in suburban Atlanta last season, Harris tallied 71 tackles, including 13.5 for a loss, 12.5 sacks, and 41 quarterback hurries, according to team stats posted to MaxPreps.

Harris played defensive end for most of his high school career, but transitioned during his senior season to standing up more and even occasionally dropping into coverage. He enrolled early at Alabama and said he hopes to earn a playing time as a true freshman.

Harris is one of 24 Alabama signees from college football’s early signing period, and he’s expected to play linebacker at Alabama. Harris and fellow signee King Mwikuta, another 4-star prospect, fit the profile of Alabama’s jack linebacker, a hybrid position that often functions like a fourth defensive lineman.

“I think I’m more than blessed to go in there and compete,” Harris said. “They didn’t promise me playing time or anything like that, but they promised me the chance to go in there and compete for a starting position.”

South: The buzz around key official visits this weekend

quote:

We are now less than three weeks from Signing Day (February 6), so each official visit is crucial at this stage.

Some of the best in the South (Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi) chose not to sign during the Early Signing Period (December 19-22), so there are some big battles still going on as we inch closer to the first Wednesday in February.

We preview some of this weekend's biggest visits and deliver the latest buzz around their recruitment here.

Nathan Pickering

Visiting: LSU

The Buzz: Before committing to Mississippi State, an in-state school in June, LSU was looked at as the favorite for Pickering. There was even some chatter that he silently committed to the Tigers on an unofficial visit to Baton Rouge in the spring. So we know LSU has been high on Pickering’s list for some time. He has stayed in regular contact with the Tigers, he is very fond of head coach Ed Orgeron and we will see if LSU can again become a true contender for the four-star defensive tackle this weekend. Alabama is a school to keep an eye on too and the Crimson Tide will host Pickering the final weekend, February 1. Next weekend, there is a chance he ends up at Mississippi State, Ole Miss or Oregon, so we will track that once he gets back from Baton Rouge.

Does this finally open up a spot for Devonta Lee?

Or is that something that will never happen?

Christian Williams

Visiting: Miami

The Buzz: Williams was expected to visit LSU last week, but late in the week, his plans changed. He stayed home last week to play basketball, but he will hit the road this weekend and head south to Miami. Could the Hurricanes be a dark horse in this race? Williams is committed to Alabama, but there is some real chatter that he ends up elsewhere. LSU has been viewed as the favorite if Williams leaves ‘Bama, but Miami seems to have a real chance to slide in here late and make a big move. As of now, Williams says he will visit Alabama next weekend, then LSU, so we will keep an eye on that, but new head coach Manny Diaz will have his chance with the four-star DB in Coral Gables first.

Byron Young

Visiting: Ole Miss

The Buzz: Young says he is still locked in with Alabama, but he chose not to sign in December, so that means is still weighing his options. This weekend, Young will be visiting Ole Miss, an in-state school that he is pretty familiar with. Ole Miss was in to see him last Friday and again on Tuesday this week. Despite the turnover with coaches in Tuscaloosa, Young still says he is solid to Alabama. These next three weeks will be very big though. He will be at Ole Miss this weekend, Mississippi State next weekend and then finish up his official visits with a trip to LSU. Right now, it appears Young will be tough to pull away from Nick Saban.
