Yes, I saw that. As Tidal alluded to earlier, it doesn't mention what was actually signed. I know we are playing a semantics game here but we will find out soon enough. For us to have 29 or 30, which most people who cover the team believe will be where we land, someone is likely walking on/delaying enrollment. There is a reason why Saban made a point to tell the media we have spots after the early signing period.

I can not remember the rule in regards to coaches being able to talk about a recruit including listing them like that on an official site. But Tyson has already enrolled and been practicing. Reichard is not there yet.

Old article on Bogle but it has some good video of Bogle versus a 5 Star interior lineman.

quote:
Bogle proved his worth by competing against some of the best, most talented prospect in the 2019 class at the camp. He ran a drill against five-star offensive lineman Clay Webb and won both reps.
quote:
It may look like Webb won that second rep, but keep in mind that he’s an interior blocker and Bogle is an edge rusher. And Bogle is out-weighed by Webb by nearly 80 or 90 pounds. Bogle showed off some elite strength on that second rep, especially considering his wiry frame.

I think we should say screw it and sign 35 every damn year.

That is called "Bustin' a Houston Nutt" and is frowned upon.

Part of it is that Tyson's and Reichard's official tweets from Alabama football on signing day were the only ones that didn't have the circled signed graphic included. It only said offered, committed, champion, drafted. Everyone else's has a circled signed in between committed and champion. Could be a coincidence but it would be odd.
Tweets: Tyson | Reichard | Bowles
A'ight, I think I've figured out what Bama may be doing with Tyson and Reichard to get them both on scholarships without them having to be initial counters. It'll take me a little bit to put together the explanation, so stay tuned. I'm gonna finish my smoke and a cup of coffee, then I'll post it.
Eta: Explanation posted after the photo below.
From the NCAA Bylaws:
15.5.6.4 Exceptions.
15.5.6.4.1 Voluntary Withdrawal. [FBS/FCS] An institution may replace a counter who voluntarily withdraws from the football team by providing the financial aid to another student who already has enrolled in the institution and is a member of the football squad. For this replacement to occur, the counter must withdraw prior to the first day of classes or before the first game of the season, whichever is earlier, and provide the institution with a signed statement releasing the institution from its obligation to provide institutional financial aid and verifying the voluntary nature of the withdrawal. The institution may immediately (beginning with the fall term) award the financial aid to a student-athlete who has been a member of the team for at least one academic year and has not previously received athletically related financial aid. A student-athlete who has not been a member of the team for at least one academic year may not receive the financial aid during the fall term, but may receive it in a following term (e.g., spring semester, winter quarter). (Revised: 4/28/05 effective 8/1/05)
Vandarius Cowan and Kieth Holcombe withdrew from the team and their football scholarships before the 2018 fall term. It appears Paul Tyson and Will Reichard could be their replacements. They haven't been on the team for one year, but they'd be going on the two voluntary withdrawal replacement scholarships following the 2018 fall term. They'd count against the 85 total counters limit, but not the signee and initial counter limits.
Voilà!
It may be necessary for them to enroll and pay for one term to establish themselves as unaided enrolled team members prior to receiving the replacement scholarships. If so, Paul might've done it for the Iterim Winter term (Dec 18 - early Jan) and Will could do it for the Spring-1 term.
So, we have two unused 2018 spots that two early enrollees can count against, plus our 25 spots for 2019, which gets us to 27, plus Tyson and Reichard = 29 total. Tim Watts said tonight that he is told by a good source that Bama can take five more than our 24 signees -- including Tyson and Reichard, though they won't actually count as signees. So, that's how Bama can take 29 recruits, without any blueshirts or grayshirts.
Bonus: Elliot Baker graduated in Dec but has a year of eligibility left due to redshirting. Since he's a scout teamer in the doghouse, it appears that he could voluntarily withdraw from the team and his scholarship before 2019's fall term, and then we could replace him under that exception rule, allowing us a 26th recruit in the 2020 cycle.

Don't they have to sign before Bama can even mention their names?

The main Miami messageboard was on scout but many folks got banned b/c some of them were posting nsfw stuff and a moderator from the Washington board snitched on them.

a learned man, we shall wait your enlightening words and will believe all written without doubt or question with patience and quizzical looks of amazement behind our keyboards

They probably signed papers for enrollment and for joining the football team. I'm going to explain it more. Just hang on.
Edit: Explanation added to my post above.

Hey Cobra, we need more good luck pics. Since this is the last game of the season you can break the rules and post multiple pics
Posted on 1/5/19 at 10:46 pm to Dick Tracy
Breaking rules???? will you take the heat should this rule breaking lead to an unfortunate outcome? *Sarcasm intended.... I put on the same socks I wore when we won the last game and will not allow wife to wash them until I have worn the winning completelh out of them... no rule breaking... keep our eyes on the prize (after the win, all the additional elements of the jib as wished)

After today's commitments at the All-American Bowl only 27 of the ESPN top 300 (9%) are currently uncommitted. In the 247 composite rankings 20 of the top 306 recruits (6.5%) are uncommitted.

So Herny To'oto'o and? What are we thinking?
Posted on 1/5/19 at 11:12 pm to Gustave
Tim Watts said tonight that we're "in a very good spot" with To'oto'o. It looks like the plan is this:
24 early signees + 5 more on NSD:
(1) RB - Robinson (commit)
(2) DL - Young (commit)
(3) DL - Sopsher, Pickering, Fuller or Sorrells
(4) LB - Bogle (commit)
(5) LB - To'oto'o (we lead)
29 Total
