Funny thing is, all these players leaving might help them win the recruiting title. If they can grab more top players.

Reading their board, they actually thought Sanders was deciding based on Holyfield. He was Bama the whole time.

That won't enable UGA to take any more recruits or transfers than the annual limits allow them to take. Departures only provide room under the 85 total counters limit. Departures don't create any more room under the annual 25 signings and 25 initial counters limits.

I doubt UGA can win the recruiting title unless we miss on almost all of our top targets. They can only take 2-3 more. Hazelwood is going to OU. It appears UGA may get Tyrique Stevenson and maybe Doug Nester and that may be about it for them. They want Darnell Wright, but it looks like he's going to UT. And they want Kaiir Elam, but it looks like he's going to UF. UGA doesn't appear to be very strongly in the mix for any other top recruits or potential flips right now. I suppose that could change.

They might have room under the 25 and didn't under the 85?

They likely had the room under the 85.

Yep. I'll be keeping up with Maryland as long as he is there.

UGA's class has 21 signees and 1 commit (Plumlee) and they told him he'll have to blueshirt. I think UGA can only take 23-24 + any blueshirts or greyshirts.

I'm not as interested in the numbers as some around here. Hypothetical with the 25 limit. What if you had a senior class of about 23 and you had 20 juniors declare. What happens to the program? Are they screwed and can't get it fixed for a while?

Theoretically yes if for some reason an entire junior class left that would be catastrophic with little in the way of direct recourse, but you can backcount some spots and such to take more players past the hard 25 limit.

Yep. But that's a very unlikely scenario.

Luke Ford transferring from UGA. Wish we could have got him.

The only backcounting that can be done is early enrollees or incoming mid-year transfers and only to the extent that you didn't use all 25 spots in the prior cycle. The midyear replacement rule also states that you can't do midyear enrollee backcounting unless you had 85 on scholarship in the fall term. That's why we gave two walkons 1-year schollies in the fall of of 2018 -- to hit the 85 limit and be eligible to count two 2019 early enrollees against our two unused 2018 spots.

Carolina Panthers: Wide receivers coach Lance Taylor will not return.

Read a post on another site by a mod saying Lance's name is being mentioned in T-Town for a spot.

He is going to illinois to be closer to his sick grandfather and so his family can actually see him play every week. I doubt UA would have had any better luck keeping him than UGA did.

Lance is a good guy. He’s made a lot of stops in a relatively young career so far. I’m sure he could land here as an analyst for a year if he can’t find something else. He did GA here early in Saban’s tenure.

Nice to see Uga get hit hard today. But Ford was as overrated as it gets coming out of HS. Decent floor. Might be a solid blocker eventually. But a low ceiling. Did not do well at Bama's camp. Kirby will have to hope that the recruiting services get it right more times than not, because he's a crappy talent evaluator.

I am making a completely unfounded prediction that Bogle is rolling with the Crimson Tide tomorrow. After being pessimistic since the ESP for some reason tonight I have unjustified confidence he is picking Bama. Welcome aboard Khris and Roll Tide!

I'm cautiously optimistic on Bogle. I think we have a decent chance of getting him.

I don't want to forget Tosh Lupoi as I was praising Locksley.

Another stand up guy who has worked tremendously hard for Saban and done everything asked.

I truly believe he would shine more as a play caller in his DC role if he wouldn't be let down by his ILB so often.
