Going to be a dog fight over those tackle spots between Neal, Leatherwood, Wills, and Womack.

The nice thing is that there will be a real competition across the line with all the talent we are bringing back even with the loss of Brown for probably almost all of next season. I do believe Neal could push Wills for playtime. Womack seems like the odd man out(talent wise)/swing tackle assuming he doesn't transfer.

ETA - 27,900!

If Brown got popped for weed he will be out for a max of four games next season. If he got popped for PEDs he will be out through game 10. Hopefully it was the former.

Tony Brown a few years back was able to get his suspension for a weed failure reduced from six games to four. So he missed both playoff games, then the first two games the next year.

Regardless, Deonte has not done himself any favors. Even if it's only two games next year, he's given the upper hand and first-team reps to somebody else. It could take him quite a while, even with a short suspension, to work his way back to a starter.

Such a shame, dude had gotten his weight under control and was looking so good, gets hurt, gets busted and it could be another wasted year

Fields appears to be going to OSU (A bunch of reports from reputable sources at this point). I look forward to his or Martell's transfer in 2020

That's a hell of a tricky situation for Day to have to deal with in year one. They'll be so talented that they'll win 9 games on that alone, but that has the potential to becoming a serious issue.

Fields will do great in that system. IMO, he is far superior to Martell.

I don't disagree. But Martell is established in that locker room and has already basically said in the media and on social media that he doesn't care for Justin Fields at all. Now imagine an outsider comes in and takes the job. You think that's going to be a pleasant locker room? I think experienced coaches are in a better spot to manage that is all I'm saying. Day is embarking on year one. Could be very tricky.

I agree that it does add some tension, but if Day wants to win the big game, he has to do what is best for his team. Now if Martell outplays him in scrimmages/practices that is when he would be at risk of losing his team. I do not believe that will happen. I see Fields starting for that team as soon as he is eligible. It was a head scratcher that he chose UGA from the start.

Just as a bit of a time killer, list in order your top 10 favorite signees so far for this class. I'll go first:

1. Alfano - Possibly the best player in the country.
2. Neal - Surprised by how well he moved last night at that size. Big time.
3. C. Harris - Freak athlete who seems to be adjusting pretty well to LB this week.
4. Mwikuta - Love his athleticism and he's a feel-good story IMO.
5. Carter - Lockdown. Love his size too.
6. Dalcourt - Super impressed by what he did at the All-Star game.
7. Battle - Probably a special teams demon next year but will also work his way into secondary some.
8. Lee - Looks like a grown man right now. Chance to help against run very soon.
9. Sanders - Well-rounded back who probably gets 100 totes next year.
10. Eboigbe - Physically I think he's not far from playing. Like his mean streak.

Really is incredible how bad Kirby fricked that situation up.

1. Alfano - Dude is a monster, Anoma+Alfano
2. Neal - He is the best tackle prospect in the country. He moves so well and he has frame that can support a lot more muscle while dropping bad weight still.
3. Battle - Great Cover skills in a safeties body
4. Dalcourt - Big believer in getting the best center you can in every class, and he fits the criteria perfectly.
5. Carter - Lockdown corner
6. Eboigbe - He looked great in the 1 on 1's and with the technique he will learn from Kul, he is going to be a monster.
7. Sanders - I'm a sucker for all around talented backs who dominate without elite speed.
8. Mwikuta - This spot would be taken by too'too (sp) but I love me a modern ILB with athleticism and coverage potential.
9. Quick - Great peer recruiter and whether he ever pans out as a recruit, love his work on this class.
10. Turnage - His athleticism is awesome and he is the kind of player I could see making a Thompson kind of leap a few years in.

LINK ]Sanders already dreaming about Alabama (BamaOnLine)

quote:

SAN ANTONIO — There was no shortage of drama in the final buildup to 5-star Alabama signee LINK ]Trey Sanders’ college decision. The Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy product had four programs seemingly on warm in the final days leading up to his Early Signing Period commitment.

“The final seven days was crazy,” Sanders told BamaOnLine. “Everybody was hitting my phone saying I know you’re going to this school or I know you’re going to that school. I was just like alright, alright. The day came and once you make your decision you’re not getting the same phone calls like you used to get. You get a good luck text from a couple people, but all the other fanbases, you’re going to hear from them. That’s the biggest part of it.”

Sanders, who says Georgia finished No. 2 for him, didn’t have his mind made up fully until the morning of Dec. 19. But at that point he was set with his choice.

“I had a firm idea,” Sanders said of his decision. “I really wasn’t going off of what people were saying like if you go to Bama you’re not going to play. I’ve never been worried about that. If I was worried about that I wouldn’t have gone to IMG. It’s kind of the same thing as Bama. That’s another reason why I chose them because it’s like going to IMG again and working every day.”

Sanders kept Alabama fans on the edge of their seat in the hours after announcing his decision as his Letter of Intent didn’t make it to Tuscaloosa until late in the evening.

“Even (other) coaches were hitting me up,” Sanders said laughing. “After the (ceremony) I had no time to do stuff. I had to eat food with my family. I was doing a lot of stuff that day. When I got home I sent the picture that I signed and got it out of the way.”

For those that caught entire feed of Sanders’ commitment ceremony, you would have noticed that Taulia Tagovailoa tried to FaceTime the nation’s No. 1 running back prior to his announcement.

“That’s my boy,” Sanders said. “We’ve always been talking about Bama since he committed, too. Everybody be calling him, telling him you’re gonna be the next Tua and I’ll just be like you’re gonna be the next Taulia. You gonna do you in college. Everybody tries to compare him to his big brother, which is not the thing because honestly I feel like he’s going to be better than him.

“He was on my official with me. We were on the field just talking and he was like, ‘Hey bro, we gotta do this. I’m trying to win a national championship.’ I said I’m trying to do it with you. Ever since then we kept that same mentality until signing day.”

Sanders is excited to compete at the All-American Bowl this week and help Alabama recruit. “I’m talking to everybody,” he said. “I’m trying to get everybody to come to school with me. They’re all out here for a reason, the All-American Bowl, so I’m trying to get everybody who hasn’t signed yet.”

As for when he plans to enroll at the Capstone, Sanders says he’ll get to campus in the spring after taking the next couple of months off to rest his body.

“I’m just looking forward to the first day of practice,” he said. “Every day I’ll be having dreams with me in No. 6 at Alabama, hellbent and all in practice going against Dylan Moses and Pat Surtain and kids like that helping me get better every day.”
