Bama didn't even make his top 12.
The new (supposedly) hire for Co-DC, Goulding, is from that area and has extensive contacts there allegedly.

Cunningham looks like a good NG project.
If we have a spot on NSD I hope we take him.

Take Two: Who will land five-star Anoma?
quote:
THE STORYLINE
Eyabi Anoma is still learning the intricacies of his position, but he’s a physical specimen and moved to five-star status in the latest rankings release because he has the potential to be special in the coming years.
But which school is going to land him?
The Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances standout has liked Alabama, Maryland and Michigan the most and the Crimson Tide have had success recruiting that part of the country.
Could Anoma be the next superstar from the Mid-Atlantic to head to Tuscaloosa? Is there a chance Maryland could convince him to stay home? Do Jim Harbaugh’s NFL ties help the Wolverines?

FIRST TAKE: ADAM FRIEDMAN, RIVALS.COM MID-ATLANTIC ANALYST
“Anoma is a special player with an attitude that makes him a terror on the field. His speed and explosiveness off the edge give offensive tackles fits and quarterbacks know he will be all over them almost instantly. Anoma’s hand techniques have improved but his motor and tireless pursuit of the ball have a huge impact on the game.
“Maryland was considered the leader early in Anoma’s recruitment but offers started flowing in, and Alabama and Michigan have emerged from a long list of offers as two top contenders. Anoma hasn’t officially ruled out any schools, but it seems like Alabama will land his commitment during the early signing period.” – Friedman

SECOND TAKE: MIKE FARRELL, RIVALS.COM NATIONAL RECRUITING DIRECTOR
“Alabama will get him. There is a lot of talk about how high he is on its list of pass rushers. Alabama has done a good job recruiting the state of Maryland when it really wanted a kid, and not only Maryland but the DMV area. There seems to be a lot of whispers that he’s going to end up at Alabama.
“He’s raw but he’s physically gifted. He’s the type of kid that a couple years from now is when we’re going to see his best football. We made him a five-star based on potential and his desire to be great. He’ll come after you, he will not stop. He’s relentless and he has the physical skills to be great. He just has to put it together with technique and coaching, and that’s what he’ll get at the college level.”

It's mind-boggling how elite DT's/DL aren't breaking down our door to commit. If Payne leaves we will only have SIX scholarship DL returning. That ain't good. If it's not the staff on the recruiting trail, then these kids must not be capable of taking 10 seconds to google our depth chart and roster at that position.

Speaking of Bo Davis:

quote:
Former Alabama defensive line coach Bo Davis, who was given a 2-year show-cause penalty after being investigated for recruiting violations back in April, saw his penalty upheld by the NCAA.
The decision by the NCAA Division I Infractions Appeals Committee was announced on the NCAA’s official website on Thursday morning, although it doesn’t cite Davis by name.
Davis resigned from his position with the Crimson Tide on April 29, the last day of the NFL draft, before it was revealed that he was being investigated by the NCAA for recruiting violations.
At the time, the Committee on Infractions panel found that Davis acted “unethically” and provided “false or misleading information about impermissible recruiting contacts.”
As a result, Davis was dealt the 2-year show-cause penalty that started on April 14, 2017 and runs through April 13, 2019. Davis’ appeal argued that the show-cause punishment should have begun on the date of his resignation from Alabama rather than the date of the infractions panel announcement.
However, the appellate committee didn’t grant that, while also noting that Davis’ discipline could have been much worse. The show-cause order that Davis faced carried a minimum of 5 years to a maximum of 10 years with a probation on all athletically-related duties.

Why? Numbers-wise, maybe. But he did nothing as a freshman in a depleted secondary.

Numbers wise and experience. Cant teach experience which is why I thought Savion Smith was the most important get this cycle

NCAA shows just how out of touch they are in their levying of penalties or "show-causes". Bo gets a 2 year penalty and it could have been 5-10!!!!
Meanwhile, the bucktoothed prick over in Oxford, MS got a 1 "show-cause" that is only applied if he is a HC? WTF?

With the latest rankings update across the recruiting service industry, Alabama commit Trey Sanders now ranks as the No. 1 running back in the 2019 class, according to the 247Sports Composite.
The Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy product carried the ball 76 times for 704 yards and 10 touchdowns. The now five-star back also caught seven passes for 145 yards and another pair of scores.
At 5-foot-11.5, 216 pounds, Sanders is rated the No. 10 overall player in the country.
The Florida native committed to the Crimson Tide in April of 2016, and while he's taken visits elsewhere and will likely continue to do so, he remains a firm pledge in the Tide's top 10-ranked recruiting class.
