I actually got out of it when my son started playing baseball and my daughter started dancing. Thry were 5 and 3 respectively. They are now 16 and 14 and in HS football and band. I didn't want to miss all of those firsts! Now that I am in the tailend of my teaching career, I have wanted to get back in for my son.

I agree whole heartedly with you though. You can't do anything that our coaches did to us coming along. I couldn't even do some of the this I did 24 years ago when I started!! Now, and especially in the teaching/coaching profession, you are guilty until proven innocent and even then, you are without a job.

Could Saban be possibly waiting on Gus, Sumlin, Butch and few more to get canned and close strong?

For all the debbie downers in this thread when we finish with a top 5 class once again please do not come into this thread to celebrate with us.

People complain when we fill the class up early and then complain when we will fill it up late. It is crazy how some are never satisfied. But the real question when is the last time Saban did not finish strong.

I think personally with a smaller class we are just taking our time and making sure we get the needs addressed. In the past we took some early that were question marks and later they were moved on or took up a spot of someone stronger that showed interest later but we had no room for. I would rather wait if it means getting the best.

The coaching changes were the biggest reason for the slow start... this was stated many times in articles.

Just for fun , I recalculated if we received commitments from E. Jones, J. Waddle, J. Copeland, and N. Joseph we would have a new score of 259.44 and pass Georgia for top five class and that’s still with only 16 recruits

LINK

Interesting link, no new names but Nadab Joseph as our top target at CB? And no Tyson Campbell? Hmmm

UK assistant Vince Marrow may have a twitter melt again, if Kentucky loses a QB commit late. He was none too happy when Mac Jones switched to Alabama. He's already taken to twitter with the news of Ohio State offering Williams.

He also had a fit over Derrick Ansley taking the DB job at Alabama. Took some shots at him. Dude seems off his rocker.

And he played for Saban at Toledo.

If we don’t get Campbell I like IT Stuart from Cali just as much , we just need to get him on visit. How the heck do you not have him on this weekend ?

I think most everyone expects us to finish strong and maybe even slip into the top 5 when it's all said and done. But we have lost some head to head battles with AU, UGA and others that we simply haven't lost in a long time. That's where the surprise and disappointment has come in, and articulating that doesn't mean we think we won't close strong or sign a decent class. It's just unusual to see Saban lose some of these battles, especially to a pee-on program and coach like Auburn and Gus.

That said, hopefully we can start some flips with guys like Emory Jones, Asa Martin and others that will balance out some of the early lost battles.

I forgot about that. He transferred to Nebraska when Pelini hired his dad. And again when his dad went to UK?

That's best thing I've seen all day. The only thing that could make it better is if someone photo-shopped a stache on him. It would then be the Freshwater Train.

Growing confidence on Campbell on the UGA front. Getting him to visit this weekend over the Bama/LSU game was pretty big. I still think it's going to be a tough pull, but would give us the inside track over Bama right now. I am surprised that Bama doesn't have ITS on campus this weekend. Seems like Nadab and ITS would have been a good pair. How many CBs are you guys envisioning in this class (and how many are you losing)?

As others have said, I'd be floored if Bama finished outside the top 5... still in the mix with way too many elite athletes. If you could go ahead and flip a couple from tOSU, yeah... that would be great.

My moderate projected class for us right now comes in around 304-306 all in... some upside and downside to that figure. If I had to put an estimated range it's probably 290-310ish right now. Lots of recruiting to go still of course.

Nabbing Copeland from UF would be good as well. I approve.
