My hunch is that Saban likes Williams as a DB. Which may be why he is pursuing Copeland as a WR. We shall see. We just need to close strong and not give our rivals like Kirby and Pruitt any more amunition that Saban is slowing down. We finish with a meh class and you can bet they’ll use that with recruits as further proof Saban is about done.

This year won't matter pertaining to next years IMO. We have coaches who are going to go out and tear the trail up.

One of the 247/Scout West Coast reporters is saying O. Griffin is down to USC and Bama. USC is still the favorite but the family is seriously considering Bama.

Warren G is still saying if his son does leave Cali, they will move nearby for the 1st year to help him transition. Our local mods didnt add anything though.

BTW, have you guys seen that Jeopardy video about the Talkin' Football category? Hilarious...

Yeah, I mentioned Williams maybe playing DB a few pages back. We're already pretty deep at WR. Adding Bolden, likely Ross and Waddle too. Always big to beat SEC foes for top talent, like Ross, Waddle, Surtain, Campbell, Walker, Petite-Frere, etc. Even tho we're deep at OL and should get a skrong OL haul for 2019, Petit-Frere is too good to not be a priority. With this smaller class, I'm a bit puzzled why we signed Bolden early.

Hey now, RLDSC is good people.

He didn't flame the board or say anything negative about Alabama.

Do we lead for any of the top corners and DL in the 2019 class? We desperately need to land at least 2-3 studs at those spots next year.

Look: Nick Saban visits Top100 WR Jacob Copeland

quote:

As BamaOnLine reported on Tuesday, Nick Saban was expected in Pensacola, Fla. on Thursday to visit four-star receiver Jacob Copeland.

The Escambia product Tweeted on Thursday night a photo of himself with Saban and Tide assistants Mike Locksley and Josh Gattis at his home. It's Locksley who's taken over Copeland's recruitment from Alabama after Jeremy Pruitt left the staff to become head coach at Tennessee.

Great in home visit with the University of Alabama head coach and assistant coaches! #RollTide

— Jacob Copeland (@JCope1era) February 2, 2018

“I think (Locksley taking over Copeland’s recruitment) it’s a great thing," Escambia head coach Mike Bennett told BamaOnLine last week. "Coach Locks is an awesome recruiter, awesome football coach. I’ve known Coach Locks since 2004, I think he’s a great coach. This is my opinion — I don’t know if you go to Alabama because of the coach, I think you go to Alabama because it’s Alabama. Bama has earned that right. Coach (Nick) Saban is there, he’s the mainstay. I think that’s what kids look at. They win championships.”

At 6-feet, 192 pounds, Copeland is rated the No. 12 receiver and the No. 62 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.

The former Gators commit will choose between Alabama, Florida, and Tennessee on National Signing Day in the 1 p.m. CT hour on ESPN2.

I think that is why Saban is revamped the staff. He wanted full steam ahead going into the 2019 recruiting cycle. I don't think this class will finish as some of us hoped, but we can make up for it in 2019. We have alot of instate talent that we can snag as well as go to Mississippi and possibly Georgia to get a handful. Add in some from Florida, Tennessee and Louisiana and we're cooking. Luckily we got the majority of the what we wanted in the this class signed because I don't see us getting but 3-5 next Wednesday.

Our pal Richt_TheU going "all in" now on the SECRB -- he's made ban bets that Miami lands Surtain and Campbell.

Someone with a different flair disagreed with you on something so it's totally appropriate to be a dick. /s

RLDSC has always been a good poster over here. Just because he said something you don't like doesn't mean you should jump all over him.

Thus, he started for us as a freshman and was lights out. Surtain could have that type of talent and football IQ. Maybe not, but I'd like to find out.

He wasn't always lights out. He played about as bad as anyone in the first game against Clemson and Renfro beat him like a rented mule all night, about as bad as we tuned up Parrish.

Based on his evaluations from all-star practices this would seem to be a great fit for him. I think they said he was extremely fast/explosive but had not developed into the best of pass catchers yet.

He was quoted recently saying Saban told him he would have his choice of offense/defense. I hope he chooses the latter.

I get it, and it probably will cost us a guy with more "boom" potential. However, I will be really surprised if Slade is a "bust." I think he's a solid contributor at some point (probably several years).

Also, if we whiff on all the QBs he can be another emergency option (to steal stupid shite from our AU brothers, I would nickname him "White Blake Sims.")

Five-star Walker has ‘great’ in-home visit with Pruitt, Vols

quote:

Five-star Alabama linebacker commitment Quay Walker of Crisp County High School in Cordele, Ga., posted on his Twitter account that he had a “GREAT” in-home visit Thursday night with new Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt.

Pruitt was accompanied on the visit by Vols defensive coordinator Kevin Sherrer and co-defensive coordinator Chris Rumph, who also serves as Tennessee’s outside linebackers coach.

“Last in-home visit was GREAT @CoachJPruitt @UTCoachSherrer @CoachRumph GO VOLS!!! #GBO,” Walker tweeted.

The 6-foot-4, 236-pound Walker has been committed to Alabama since June but has taken official visits to Tennessee and Auburn within the past three weeks in addition to returning to Alabama on an official visit the weekend of Jan. 19. He’s scheduled to travel to Georgia this weekend on his final visit.

The 247Sports Crystal Ball points to Georgia and Tennessee as the favorites to land him, with the Bulldogs and Vols each getting 27 percent of the current predictions, 18 percent going to Alabama and 9 percent going to Florida State.

Walker is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 31 overall prospect and No. 2 outside linebacker in the 2018 class.

I once mentioned Bolden as potential QB insurance and it didn't get upvotes.

Let's just hope we don't have any QB controversy with the fans over Vernon vs. Slade .

That could really turn into a shite-show and derail a run at a national championship (especially if we had a lot of injuries at LB).
