Why Solomon jumping ahead of Wilson? Is your reasoning for not giving Shelving a fifth star which I think he proved he deserved at the UA game because he is fat?

Really just feel that Solomon is the more disruptive, more active player in games. I think Wilson got a little bit overhyped early. He's really good but just not No.1 in the country contender good.

He's still a 5-star on Scout.

Wow. Did not know that. Who said you can't have your cheeseburger and eat it too?

Barton, lets talk about Tua.

He measured in a 6'0 1/4".

Is that first round projectable?

He ran for -134 yards his senior season.

Is that a dual threat QB?

He threw for 90 less yards per game than Fromm in a significantly easier high school league.

He didn't run with the first string from Tuesday's practice on at the all star game. He was the third string QB at the game. During the game, he did not perform in any impressive ways. He looked like a lumberjack trying to run the ball.

You seriously just made a 6' "dual threat" QB who ran for negative yards his senior year and wasn't even the best QB on his own all star team a 5 star QB who you project to be a future 1st round draft pick.

I guess now is the time where you say he looked good in his tshirt and shorts and he has big hands.

Tua is the poster child for the total failure to provide legitimate justification Bama bump.

We measured Tua at 6-0 and 3/4
We measured Fromm at 6-1 and 1/4

If you want to argue that Tua is too short to be a five-star that's fine but Fromm has him by no more than a half inch so that's not much of a discrepancy.

I don't agree with your assessment of who was the best QB on his own all-star team but I do think Jake Fromm is a really good qb.

Its a double sided argument, if Tua was the starter he would use that as a reason why "because he beat out everyone to be the starter". Since he wasn't he'll say he doesn't care about it. Bottom line is he LOVES Tua and was going to have him a 5 star regardless.

I don't think I've ever used who was the starter at an all-star game as a key deciding factor in a 5-star ranking. I don't think Sam Darnold was the starter when he was in the Army Bowl but he's going to be the best player from that game.

I'll try one more time

"He's so effortless and such a smooth glider that it's hard to really grasp how athletic this kid is. There isn't a receiver in this class with the physical tools and complete package of Peoples-Jones."

Can you explain saying this, then dropping him 18 spots and losing the #1 WR spot? What elevated Ruggs so high, and over DPJ?

Peoples-Jones has the best physical skillset in terms of size/speed combo but Ruggs was the more explosive playmaker over the last year. Side by side in Army, we felt Ruggs was better

So the most complete package in the country at WR, in your words, not mine, is trumped by "explosiveness". Seems like you're contradicting yourself but, alrighty then.

a complete skill set doesn't make someone the best. DPJ is taller and faster than Ruggs but I think Ruggs is the better receiver. More natural hands, more explosiveness, more big play ability, better route-runner.

DPJ is the No. 2 WR in the country. I can praise him and still think there's a guy better.

Not sure why anyone cares about Bartons QB rankings he is the worst in the industry at that position. With Kizer, Trubisky and Watson likely being the only 1st round QBs he'll be 0-11 on QBs. Bartons just praying Jerrod Heard, Will Grier, David Cornwell all pan out he liked all three better than Watson. Loved Gunner Kiel, Max Browne, Blake Barnett....you should actually worry if he does rank your QB a 5-star.

I know it's easy to just throw this kind of stuff out there and hope it sticks but I'll go ahead and bite.

It's only been the last two or three years that i've had the final say on rankings. Before that I was just a voice in the room.

Grier, Heard and Cornwell weren't five-stars for us so not sure why you bring them up. I was pretty open and vocal about not liking Cornwell, I never liked Heard and I was fairly indifferent on our Will Grier ranking. Grier was ranked 66th by us (lower than the composite) and that ranking is still tracking to be fairly accurate.

Kiel wasn't my guy but I was ok with him being a five-star so that was a miss. After the Elite 11 that year I said I felt Jameis should be a contender for No. 1 in the country. As I said, i was just a voice then. I got overruled. We still had him inside our Top32 and our 2nd QB.

Browne is fair to call a miss assuming he doesn't shock us all at Pitt.

Barnett, we probably got wrong as I was part of the 3/4ths of the recruiting industry that had him as a 5-star. However he could still pan out too, he just got beat out by the true freshman that I had ranked higher than anybody else.

QB is arguably the toughest position to project.

I wasn't able to watch all the practices and didn't keep up, but from the game itself, DPJ had great hands on his catches. Snagged it in a very natural way

Does all these new 5 star players allow Bama to sign the best class ever now? Beating Florida's 10 class?
