22 players and 7 or 8 spots left. I would bank at least 1 if not 2 offered grayshirts. I believe one was already mentioned for 1. Also seems like our JUCO may not make it in. So that may free up another 2 or 3 spots.

Wish list

Browning, Parks, Allen, Wade, Harris, Hunter or Stevens, Smith, Ruggs, Kinlaw, Ray, T Smith, and I Wilson. C

Call it a day

Fixed it and did not want to seem greedy.

Definitely have to part ways with 1 or 2 current players and offer a few grayshirts.

I don't think we could pull both Trey Smith and Isaiah Wilson, but I'd love to be wrong.

Not Baker. The corner, Jhavonte Dean. He apparently had a really shitty season.

Wonder how much more Dean was targeted this season with Sheffield playing opposite him?

Bet it played a part...

That's the first I've heard of him having a bad year. All I've heard is that Pruitt really likes him, but that if we get the HS guys we're looking at, he may not be in our class. (Same with Baker on the OL). It might be accurate, though, for all I know.

Roll Tide-ings: 5-star commit helping Alabama recruit 5-star prospect committing next week and more

More evidence to Moses’ commitment status

When recruits are actively recruiting other top prospects at the position they both play, that’s usually a sign that the player doing the recruiting is solid with his commitment. That’s what 5-star linebacker Dylan Moses was doing Wednesday night.

Moses tweeted at 5-star linebacker Baron Browning, who is announcing his commitment Nov. 29, that he’s hoping to play alongside him next season at Alabama.

If that doesn’t illustrate the strength of Moses’ commitment to Alabama, I don’t know what does. Depending on how the rotation looks in the future, it’s possible Moses and Browning, if the latter chooses Alabama, could battle each other for a starting position. But it looks like Moses isn’t worried about that as he’s hoping Alabama lands Browning’s commitment next week.

Confidence growing in projecting Browning in Alabama’s class?

A few days ago, I mentioned that Browning, the nation’s No. 2 outside linebacker, was likely going to commit to either Alabama or Ohio State this coming Tuesday. I received word from multiple sources Wednesday night that Alabama should now be considered the favorite to land him when he announces his commitment.

That’s also coming with the understanding that Browning will take an official visit to Ohio State this weekend for the Michigan game, giving the Buckeyes the last shot to impress him.

Alabama hosted Browning and his family on an official visit for the Texas A&M game back in October. The Army All-American didn’t talk about the trip in detail, but he did tell SEC Country “all I have to say is Roll Tide Roll.”

The intel I received Wednesday night makes me very confident in now projecting Browning to be a part of Alabama’s 2017 class.

The Tide would have two 5-star prospects committed at the linebacker position and two highly rated 4-star recruits in VanDarius Cowan and Markail Benton on board. Talk about a good way at filling Reuben Foster, Ryan Anderson and Tim Williams’ roster spots.

Two recruits Leatherwood wants Alabama to get

Alex Leatherwood, a 5-star offensive tackle from Booker T. Washington High School (Pensacola, Fla.), is one of Alabama’s best recruiters behind the scenes. Many fans worry if he’ll stick with his commitment because he says things like this. I can tell you, though, that there is absolutely nothing to worry about when it comes to his commitment status. He’s 100 percent locked in with Alabama.

Leatherwood has helped Alabama land several of its current commitments such as 4-star offensive tackle Elliot Baker, 4-star offensive tackle Jedrick Wills and Moses, who we mentioned above.

I asked him which recruits he’s hoping Alabama lands next. Here’s what he had to say:

“We’ve mostly got all the big pieces of the puzzle except defensive line,” Leatherwood told SEC Country. “I’d like to see LaBryan Ray and Aubrey Solomon join the class. Those two are total game changers and big playmakers that could help continue Alabama’a dominance along the front seven.”

Leatherwood should get his wish with at least one of those prospects.

I fully expect Ray, a 4-star defensive end from James Clemens High School (Madison, Ala.), to commit to Alabama when he chooses to announce his commitment. He is Alabama’s top in-state priority, and the Tide rarely miss on landing those recruits. His countless trips to Tuscaloosa make him very familiar with the program. Moreover, two of his best friends are Tide commitments in 4-star offensive guard Kendall Randolph and 3-star defensive back Kyriq McDonald. This should be enough for the Tide to land his commitment.

Alabama has some work to do with 4-star defensive tackle Aubrey Solomon. At one point, Alabama led for several months before he abruptly committed to Michigan. He has since backed off that commitment, but the Wolverines and Georgia appear to be in better position to land him.

He already knows what the Crimson Tide must do to impress him when he makes that visit, which has not been set up yet.

“They just need to show my family a good time and show that they actually care about my family and not just me,” Solomon recently told SEC Country.

Has Alabama done that up until this point?

“Not necessarily. They have in a way, but not how Georgia does,” Solomon said. “They put my family first and then they come to me. That’s what I like — my family first, then me.”

The good news for the Alabama staff is that Solomon is already planning to take his recruitment past National Signing Day. It’s possible that a commitment could come in May, shortly before he would need to report to his school of choice for summer workouts.

“I’m not really worried about recruiting until my senior season is done,” Solomon said. “Once my senior season is done, I’ll be happy to do all of that recruiting. Until then, I’m just trying to focus on this team and win state.”

Oh good grief. Another Georgia kid dragging out his recruitment.
