Brooklyn (NY) Poly Prep five-star offensive tackle Isaiah Wilson made his much anticipated official visit to Florida State over the weekend.

“It was very fun, me and my mom enjoyed,” Wilson told Noles247 on Sunday after the trip to Tallahassee. “I definitely loved being here (FSU) and it’s something I’m going to think about highly.”

Wilson was the only official visitor on campus this weekend, which meant he received the coaching staffs undivided attention.

“I familiarized myself with everyone. I’ve always talked to coach (Jay) Graham and coach (Rick) Trickett, but it was about getting on campus and seeing how everything works and how everyone interacts,” he said.

One of the highlights of the trip was Wilson’s time spent with FSU offensive line coach Rick Trickett.

“He made it clear to me that I was important. I like the way he is, very straight forward, he doesn’t sugarcoat anything, so that was helpful.”

Wilson brought his mom along with him for the weekend visit. They arrived on campus Friday afternoon and left around noon on Sunday.

Next weekend Wilson will take an official visit to Michigan and the following weekend he’ll be at Alabama. He has no timetable for a final decision.

ANTIOCH, Calif. — Alabama 5-star running back commit Najee Harris showed all in attendance Friday night at Antioch High School why he’s rated as the nation’s No. 1 recruit.

Harris led the Panthers to a 29-17 victory in their first-round playoff game against San Ramon Valley. Harris had 289 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns on 35 carries. He also had 4 receptions for 41 yards. What’s more impressive about his 330-yard performance is the fact that Harris put up those ridiculous stats while San Ramon Valley constantly stacked the box anticipating his touches.

Check out his highlights in the video at the top of the page.

So, what's our path to the #1 class? Are we expected to land anyone who can make up the difference between us and Ohio State?

It would likely take flipping OSU players. Their class this year is ungodly.

I was hoping Gibbs or Stevens would get that safety spot.

Have heard positive news concerning both lately.

I'm willing to be majority of these kids are m the inner city. Remember Reuben Foster doing the GD handshake before a highschool football game. Never stopped the staff from taking him. Anyone can get shot. Not like he killed someone.

I agree. If you're black and from the city or outskirts you're going to be affiliated with something. That is the circumstance, not of the individuals creation. Not everybody can transition out of that, but the majority do. It's just that people love to be negative and focus on the minority that don't.

Regarding being shot at, Reuben was just in Auburn not too long ago when his fam got killed in the club and he was shot at. Thats how I think he hurt his hand. Nobody knows because he was shuttled out and back to Tuscaloosa before news hit.

My point? shite happens.

I was shot at in college. Multiple times. Doesn't make me a horrible person either.

I'm not saying we should go for Moultry, I'm just saying kids deserve chances. We all have got them.

So this is an interesting quote from Chadarius Townsend:

quote:

“Pretty much just talking about what I can play as and stuff like that,” Townsend said. “They can see me as being at a position like Kenyan Drake was and doing a lot of stuff he did. That’s what I see myself as, too.”

I thought we wanted him to play defense.

if we keep tua its gonna be interesting next year. Tua looks like the superior passer coming out of highschool and its similarly dynamic as a runner. Hurts obviously will have a year of college experience and all summer to get over the hump as a passer (assuming he is still struggling with accuracy by the end of the season). Now that we have popped our freshmen qb cherry, who is to say tua might not be the guy next year? Who the hell knows anymore, best guy is going to play.

Roll Tide-ings: What Najee Harris’ mom says about son’s Alabama commitment

Will Alabama keep Najee Harris committed?

I spent the past four days in Antioch, Calif., the home of the nation’s top recruit and Alabama commit Najee Harris. I didn’t get a chance to talk with Harris himself because he doesn’t enjoy interviews, but I did speak to every single person important and close to his recruitment.

The feeling I got from those closest to Harris is that he ultimately will stick with the Crimson Tide when he makes his final decision, and it’s unclear when that will happen. Harris is back in Antioch on Monday after taking a weekend official visit to UCLA, which is one of the schools vying to flip his commitment. The Bruins aren’t necessarily a big threat, so there’s not much for Tide fans to worry about when it comes to the trip.

Michigan is Alabama’s top competition for the 5-star running back. Jim Harbaugh has done a fantastic job courting Harris, his family and his mentors. But Alabama has a significant advantage because the Tide have been in the picture since Harris’ sophomore year. That matters because everyone close to Harris has a better relationship with the Tide coaches than the Wolverines coaches. Harris’ trainer considers Alabama outside linebackers coach Tosh Lupoi “family.” Lupoi is from California and grew up not too far from Antioch.

Another advantage Alabama has over Michigan is Harris’ desire to compete with the best. I heard it countless times over the past few days that Alabama’s imposing defense entices Harris, and those in his camp feel like coming to Tuscaloosa would offer better preparation for the NFL.

His trainer actually told SEC Country that he hopes his prodigy sticks with Alabama. He is arguably the most important person in Harris’ life outside of his mother. Several other people close to him said they hope he attends Alabama, too.

Ultimately, it’s going to be Harris’ decision. But after spending the past few days in California, I am much more confident in saying Harris will be a part of the Crimson Tide come 2017.

Harris’ mother comments on Alabama

Because Harris has been committed to Alabama since his sophomore year, that’s allowed his mother — Tianna Hicks — to get close to the Tide coaching staff.

The U.S. Army All-American committed to Alabama the first time he visited Tuscaloosa, and he hasn’t looked back on that decision.

Hicks was also on the trip with her son when he committed, and that’s when she, too, fell in love with Alabama.

“First off, their record is impeccable and outstanding,” Hicks told SEC Country. “They have top-notch facilities. Nick Saban is a hard-working guy and serious about his business. I love how he runs the team, and I just love the whole program. I like the educational side of the program and I like how they take care of the players as far as tutoring, health care, housing, food — all of the things that moms worry about.

“I feel really comfortable that Saban and the team are going to take care of my son.”

One of the reasons why she is at peace with her son going to Alabama is because of Lupoi. As mentioned above, the assistant has been a constant in Harris’ life since he was a freshman in high school. He was one of the first college coaches in the country to believe that Harris was destined for great things before he became the best recruit.

“That’s family. He’s my boy. That’s my boy,” Hicks said of Lupoi. “We’re very close with him. He has a great personality. He really is looking out for Najee, as far as keeping in touch and making sure he is doing the things needed to get where he wants to be, so I appreciate him.”

Again, that’s just another reason why Alabama is going to be hard to beat when it comes to Harris’ recruitment.
