I guess I missed this back in October. I was looking at our Class of 2018 Crystal Ball picks and Ryan Bartow CB'd this kid to us. I clicked on his profile and came across this:

quote:

MIAMI, Fla. — Miami already finds itself in a position where its going to have to fight to keep its top 2018 commit, committed.

Miami Columbus four-star cornerback Josh Jobe told 247Sports' Ryan Bartow on Thursday that Alabama was his 'No. 1' school and that the Hurricanes were running No. 2.

He echoed that statement a few hours later during an on-site interview with InsideTheU when asked for the latest with his recruitment.

"Alabama is Alabama. UM is UM," Jobe said.

"I can choose either one of them two [but] I'm still committed to Miami."

Jobe, who is ranked by 247Sports as the nation's No. 11 cornerback and No. 88 overall prospect, gave a verbal pledge to the Hurricanes back in June of 2015. While he has stuck by his word for the better part of the past 18 months, he did take a trip to Tuscaloosa over the summer with his high school team. There appears to have been contact ever since.

"I hear from Alabama a lot, probably every day," Jobe said. "It's just a good school. They are the defending champs and they offer a good education and everything. They also have a good coach in [Nick Saban] and my family likes them."

Jobe was at Hard Rock Stadium three weeks ago to see Miami take on Florida State. He said that while he was disappointing in the final result, the Hurricanes' recent three-game losing streak isn't one of the reasons why he's shopping around and listening to Alabama.

"They just got to turn it around," Jobe said. "They're a pretty good team. I mean Coach Richt is a good coach, and I respect Coach Richt. They just got to bounce back. [The losses] doesn't mean anything."

Jobe wore Alabama gloves on Thursday. He returned an interception 51 yards for a touchdown in Columbus 14-7 win over Coral Gables.

He said that he doesn't have any visits lined up, but hasn't ruled out a trip to Miami for the Hurricanes home contest against Pittsburgh next week.

"I'm right here, so we'll see."

Jobe (6-1, 180) is ranked as the No. 14 recruit in Florida.

Tua is good at making guys miss, but isn't even close in the speed department to Hurts.

That article on Najee sounded great! Most encouraging one yet. Hopefully our staff's concern has alleviated a bit. Sounds like his mom is squarely in our corner.

I've been behind in recruiting but 247 Is showing Kinlaw decomitted from USC today. That's gotta be good news, correct?

ETA: he's posted on twitter that he's no longer committed to USC

if we keep tua its gonna be interesting next year. Tua looks like the superior passer coming out of highschool and its similarly dynamic as a runner. Hurts obviously will have a year of college experience and all summer to get over the hump as a passer (assuming he is still struggling with accuracy by the end of the season). Now that we have popped our freshmen qb cherry, who is to say tua might not be the guy next year? Who the hell knows anymore, best guy is going to play.

Tua is coming into a totally different situation from the one Jalen entered earlier this year. Barring injury, this is Jalen's team for the next 2-3 years. The good news is Tua and Mack Jones (along with the 2018-19 QB's) will be able to redshirt and follow the typical Saban QB progression cycle...

This article kinda sounds like Kinlaw and Muschamp had some harsh words
LINK
quote:

“It’s the same thing with certain people just making me feel like I owe coach Muschamp and them something, I owe South Carolina something. Just a lot of people driving me away, making me feel like they own my life or something, people back home,” he said. “I didn’t really feel bothered by it until I told coach Muschamp how I felt about it and he just talked to me the way he did.” Despite all that, Kinlaw said he “definitely” will still consider USC, but he’s not sure at this point if Muschamp will continue to recruit him. “We’re just not seeing eye to eye right,” he said. “I definitely care” (that Muschamp continues to recruit him). Kinlaw has not set up any official visits yet but he has said that, along with USC, he wants to visit Alabama, Maryland, Tennessee and Louisville. Read more here: LINK

doubt he RS. We need a back up who can run the new offense and our current back ups cant. so I see Tua getting plenty of reps

Can't go into specifics, but after what I was told last night, I feel SO MUCH BETTER about Alex Leatherwood signing with Alabama..........

Did we need to be worried?

I know he's flirted with USCw and Michigan, but I never thought he was serious about flipping.

Well, Leatherwood himself did retweet this last night, so I think we all have reason to feel pretty good:

On the LSU board, there is a post saying Baker will visit LSU next month.

It is in the Isaiah Wilson thread.
