The thing about Saban is that he's not Bama. Would Bama -- i.e. boosters, local businessmen, various hangers-on, etc -- do some shady stuff for recruits? Certainly. That's how the college game has always been played, and it's played that way everywhere there's a football program that anyone gives a damn about. But the reason I respect Saban is that I just don't picture him stooping to that level. Some coaches I have no problem believing will give the whole sordid business a knowing wink as they maintain plausible deniability and keep their hands technically clean. Saban? I can't imagine anyone would suggest anything improper in his presence. He's just not the type to just ignore things he doesn't like around him.

Besides, if he can't sell Bama on the 5 titles he won (4 at Bama), great facilities, excellent track record getting kids in the NFL, and passionate fanbase, 70% of whom, including the straight men, would sleep with any football player who asked, then he just can't sell the university to that recruit. Nobody's going to pick Bama because they get some foldin' money and free drinks at the Houndstooth. That's one of the reasons seriously corrupt universities aren't sustainable any more. The amount of under-the-table benefits you'd have to offer to be substantially more attractive to recruits will inevitably draw attention in this era of easy dissemination of information. So places will offer lots of smaller perks and benefits and hope the recruit has other reasons to go there, because their competition can offer pretty much the same value in smaller perks and benefits. Cam might not have been definitively caught, but he sure made the program extremely uncomfortable for a couple years. Programs don't like that. It's even possible that the controversy cost them recruits because players are leery of going somewhere that might get hammered by sanctions and probation.

At least Georgia was embarrassed during the game if that helps any lol

Why because unlike so many on here when Otis pulled that crap with Allen and also the players he screwed over in NC and everyone on our sites bashed are now praising the hire

Or that I am not naive to believe that we do everything by the book in recruiting

Or understand the reason we offer so many recruits because we know we will miss on more than we will land and that others schools just beat us out because the recruit and/or family feels somewhere else is a better fit

In the end under Saban we will get a great class and always do and I will never lose sleep because a recruit went elsewhere. If that makes me a douche so be it

And yes those guys miss just as much as they get it right like I said before unless you here it directly from the kid it is 3rd hand info and even when directly that info is good for 24 hours at best

And yes just like with Brown visiting away and many other recruits you make statements if we get him out whatever they do on the visits we have a chance or how many times have you accused ole miss for being dirty I guess I could go look it up but you would have some lame excuse for it so it does not matter

So tell us... who is qualified to post recruiting info since basically nobody "hears it directly from the kid"? Should those guys I listed not post info? Should you not post info on Emmons? Should this just be a dead thread? What is even the use for recruiting forums? If the deep end is five feet to the right of center, you're 20 feet to the right of center. What are you even arguing about? Of course people are going to post information from sources that talk to HS coaches, boosters, and coaches on our staff. Why wouldn't we? Have you lost your mind?

What is your point of contention? The money thing? If so, every other program's fans are doing the same thing in regard to Ole Mi$$.

Should I post about feeling good about Kongbo or not? What should we post on here, and what should we not post? You tell us. (NOTE: - It doesn't matter.
