TS said it. Our defense has gotten soft. The entire team needs an attitude change, from the top down. We've gone from "make his arse quit," to "it pisses me off when people gripe about a 1 point win."
When Johnny F beat us that year, it changed Saban's attitude. We don't have to outscore everyone. That's a BS mentality. It's gotten Gus and Sumlin 4 losses a year.
Give me bust mouth football over this flash in the pan bullshite any day of the year.

Nah, Bama needs to ditch the cute defense stuff and just play straight man to man.

while i do agree with this, our defense has to match the hunh. no way our old style could keep up, that was way obvious. but, i dont think we have to go all big 12 defense or anything. simplify and cut the young guns loose

John Parker Wilson is the toughest quarterback I've ever seen at Alabama and he was a cocky little prick with limited ability. He also quarterbacked the team that turned the program around. The team feeds off that. Cockiness is just outlandish confidence.

Seriously, I don't expect us to win it all every year but there has been a stubbornness to change defensively that's evident. We're trying to put a square peg in a round hole. Instead of insisting on running the system I'd rather see the coaches adapt to running what the players do best and what gives us the best opportunity of stopping the other offense.

We haven't played many good teams since then either. OSU was by far the best team we played this year.

ETA: BOL recruiting nuggets:
-Some are starting to get optimistic that CVO might qualify. Alabama leads Auburn with OM as a dark horse.
-If Richmond flips, it will be on NSD when he signs paperwork. Alabama in good shape for a possible flip
-Lawrence Cager's parents seeing UA this weekend may go a long way in them giving their blessing. Remains to be seen if he has a spot.
-Rico will visit UGA. Still feel confident in keeping him.
-Oregon is trying to get in it with McMillon. All reports are that he is solid.
-Saban is having his in-home with Sheffield on Thurs. Lots of in-state pressure, but he is solid.
-Mizzou is still pursuing Hale Hentges. He's solid.
-We may be getting a commitment from Darnell Salomon. (Yes, the dude who stole the iPhone @ UGA's camp)

We need CBs capable of defending man-to-man, first. I agree, though. We're hamstringing our 5* players by making them think instead of just playing and reacting. The talent is there, no doubt.
They'll get it figured out. It's gonna take some growing pains i.e. 2010 secondary.
