So was Alfy Hill.
I know the story on Bo. But with these "didn't qualify" cases i'm always iffy until they are IN IN. I believe he'll be here, but it's still kinda shallow considering what we could be bringing back.

Barnett is cool, but we don't have a good enough track record of developing qbs to be excited
Should Kiffin stay around long enough I think we might be able to develop a quarterback.

Flowers.....we can do better than this at rb. And we only signed Bo last year and he's in limbo
We still have a chance with Damien Harris. He is really good friends with Blake Barnett and he is unofficial visiting for Miss St.
quote:
Love Calvin. Meh on Charlot
Not even for sure that Charlot sticks. I think he flips. Probably soon.
quote:
Dallas, Cotton, Pettitbon and Kennedy....we need mashers. I think we'll hit on a couple with this. No outside guys though, and that's troubling. Still, good O line haul.
Great interior class. Things are not looking so hot on the outside.
quote:
Hentges is just ok. Basically like running Vogler back for 4 more years. Eh
TEs are a total crap shoot when it comes to recruiting. Look at how stellar our five star TE from 2013 has been.
quote:
Love Mekhi. Moton is just one of those guys we plug down low. Just a body. Not a fan of Anfernee
Anfernee is solid. He's just under the radar because he doesn't do camps. Love the potential Mekhi brings to the table. I don't think Moton sticks.
quote:
Bell, McMillon(now injured) and Keaton don't move the needle for me at all. Worst linebacking class we've ever had this late in the game
Add Adonis Thomas and I think that redeems our linebacking corp. Plus the in-state class for 2016 is absolutely sick with linebackers.
quote:
Minkah is great if he sticks. Rico is a good pick up. SBB will be solid if he sticks and Thompson will also be very good. Secondary class looks the best.
I'm a big fan of this secondary class. Add in Ronnie Harrison. He is raw, but I have a feeling he might be the best of this class in terms of DB.

One of our worst classes this late in the process in my opinion. Especially considering we have some amazing recruiters on staff
A lot of kids deciding late this year.
Let's pretend for a second. We could finish the year off with Cowart, Harris, Adonis, Prince, and Payne. I think that would help shore up some of the weaknesses of this class.

I sort of agree, but he's a really talented guy and if we keep Lane for a couple more years he'll get some good development.
quote:
Flowers.....we can do better than this at rb.
I actually kind of agree. I've never been high on Flowers. Don't get me wrong, I think he is talented, but I don't feel the same about him coming out as I did pretty much all of our past RBs under Saban. But we seem to be trending up with Damien Harris.
quote:
Love Calvin. Meh on Charlot.
Agree, though I'm a little bit more than a meh on Charlot, I don't think he is going to be a stud, but they all can't be I suppose.
quote:
Dallas, Cotton, Pettitbon and Kennedy....we need mashers. I think we'll hit on a couple with this. No outside guys though, and that's troubling. Still, good O line haul.
Good haul. Cotton could be a RT, but we need a LT. That is where Prince comes in, if we land him.
quote:
Hentges is just ok. Basically like running Vogler back for 4 more years. Eh.
I think Hentges is way more of a pass catcher than Vogler. He's no Howard, but no TE prospect has been since honestly.
quote:

Agree with most. Anfernee is underrated imo.
quote:
Bell, McMillon(now injured) and Keaton don't move the needle for me at all. Worst linebacking class we've ever had this late in the game.
I can probably agree it is the worst LB class we've had in a while. I wouldn't say it is bad, of course. Losing Leo Lewis really hurt the LB class.
quote:
Minkah is great if he sticks. Rico is a good pick up. SBB will be solid if he sticks and Thompson will also be very good. Secondary class looks the best.
Definitely, and don't forget about Ronnie Harrison. Another stud imo.

On paper, this is how I rank the classes under Saban then they came out:
2014
2008/2009
2013
2012
2011
2010
I'd put this class, so far, above 2011 and under 2012. But we'll add Payne and some other guys to end it out. Looking good with a guy like Sheffield.

If we hit on a lot of big dogs late(I love Damien, would really love to pick up Prince, Adonis and either at least one of Cowart or CeCe to go along with Payne. A surprise would be nice.
I guess just looking at it, I see a lot of processible guys. This class is top heavy and then chock full of guys that I see in the program for 3 years and then transferring.
QB....Barnett may start one day, we'll see
Ridley will be at least a very good starter one day. Hentges will play TE/HB but who cares. Ughh. 3 of our O line guys will likely be starters one day. I like that class. Mekhi will start one day. Thompson, and Minkah will start. I could see Rico swapping to safety and starting at some point. Ronnie Harris or SBB will battle with Hootie and Clark. Hopefully a couple of the 4 pan out, but they just remind me a lot of the class we brought in Perry/Jarrick. Servicable.
I just like to land more sure fire impact guys than that. Last year's linebacking haul wasn't just off the charts either as far as the middle goes. I dunno. We have a team full of recruiters. This class reminds me of a few of the more unhearelded in retrospect classes we've had, but hopefully we close strong and kick arse on the trail next year. Would love a few "step right in" monsters, but I think this year is just one of those years.
I say all that knowing we usually finish strong. Here's hoping.

Think about how we recruited QBs during Saban's time. Barnett is the only 5 star QB we have ever signed.

Flowers.....we can do better than this at rb. And we only signed Bo last year and he's in limbo
Agree, but it also helps recruit the next year as a pitch and this class isn't over...

Yep. Godwin woulda been nice

Add Prince and this is almost as good as last year's OL class which was the GOAT. C-ROB

Better receiver but kinda agree

Ok agree, but what about when Payne and Cowart commit?

We need a badass ILB. Leo Lewis is a badass, but the kid is kinda undersized. Im going to do some research on possible big ILB for 2016

Sheffield and Minkah would be sick

5+ spots to fill with 5 stars. Cowart, Payne, Sheffield, possibly Jefferson, Adonis Thomas.

FWIW Vogler was a camp/projection darling, much like Howard was. He played WR in a Wing T and was asked to make 1 catch on a fly route a game. Wasn't that great of a blocker despite playing in that style(the 2nd Jones brother looked like Howard Cross in comparison), but he had gaudy measurables. Took forever for him to become a decent blocker, they let him do it in space for screens too.
Hentges had more catches in his Junior season than Vogler did in his HS career. He's further along as a route runner and pass catcher, holding both the reception and TD record at his school. He also holds the sack record, which tells you he's decent on the line(and that he probably plays some really bad competition). He had some meh camps this Summer, and really wasn't brought aboard for his blocking(they wanted him at H-Back and another for blocking). May have to anyway, unless they flip Jennings over.
Hoping Greene cuts some weight and becomes the fulltime TE in 2015, or maybe the frequent Faciane sightings against LSU is something promising for the future. Guy has been in the doghouse for ages...

Howard had more hype than Vogler, way more.

Howard needs to grow a pair. I'm still pissed about the OM game.

Yea that last play wasn't good in the OM game but damn he never got the ball threw to him lol. He was probably shitting bricks

I'm asking because I don't know for certain, but wasn't Kiffen the WR coach for USC? Wasn't it Sark that was the QB whisperer?

Im just basing it on him making Crompton look draftable and helping Sims look light years better than A-Day.

Obviously, one was lauded as a top 10 talent at his position while the other was a top 10-15 talent overall.
Both were hyped for their ability to play TE without ever really playing it. Vogler was a big get at the time, was gonna thrive in Bama's TE friendly offense(lol).

Ridley and Harrison are OVing to UGA this weekend for the Auburn game.

I'm hearing there are no plans for #Alabama commitment Calvin Ridley to visit #UGA this weekend (at least not yet) despite reports.

@DrewChamplin: Dan Mullen: "(Alabama) Probably have more 5 star players sitting on the bench that can’t get a rep than we have on our roster."
Have to hand it to Mullen, simultaneously casting his team in the underdog role while sending a message to recruits about lack of PT at Bama

I think UGA was trying to be sneaky with that Ridley visit. Now that cover is blown, I sort of doubt he shows
