Sounds like Kiffin is already making his imprint on the offense. 5'10", 188? Not exactly a prototypical Saban RB, is it? Most of the others are pretty similar. I'm guessing Kiffin is recruiting to fit his own style of offense, with Saban's blessing?

I hope we feel good about some higher ranked corners and that's why we're pushing off Mo Smitherman. I know he's not Saban's prototypical corner and we took a couple of badasses in this last class, but I just don't wanna play from behind like we did with Roc. I do like that Auburn isn't in his top 4

Hart, Grant, Kamara were all smallish too so we've taken similar size RBs in the past

Does seem that way. Granted, the point has been fairly made that Saban occasionally recruits smaller RBs (along with Ingram, who was really quite a lightning-in-a-bottle type of recruiting call.) But he seems to prefer lining up larger ones and going through the tackles. Those are the ones that have gotten the most PT (outside of Ingram, of course.) Hart had injuries, of course, but there's still no guarantee he would ever have broken the regular line-up even though he was (iirc from his time as a Michigan commit) a 5 star. I do wonder if Saban recruited most of them with their impact on STs in mind.

I think they were recruited because staff felt like they could be good RBs for us. None of those 3 worked but we've also had some big RB signees who didn't pan out either

I have said it Sept, October, November and now. Jovon Robinson is the best prospect that will sign in this class for 2015, Juco or HS.#Star

Thought y'all might like this. Rusty is the UGA 247 guy, for those who don't recognize him

Quite true. Don't get me wrong. I have no interest in second-guessing Saban's recruiting choices. He's obviously the best there is at choosing and developing talent. I was trying to talk more generally about his apparent preferences in the past and the possibility that, under Kiffin, there's potential evidence of a shift toward a slightly different paradigm. Flowers is a larger back, but he was recruited and committed before Kiffin came on board. Of course, this isn't exactly a large sampling, but there were four backs posted in quick succession here that tended toward the smaller end of the scale, so I was just hypothesizing.

Ingram is a great counter-example, but he's also an anomaly as a featured back. Nobody really saw him coming, at least not at the level he reached, and even for his size, he played like a larger, bruising back by not shying away from contact and gaining lots of yards after said contact.

Seems weird that we are only taking two running backs, have one committed, and have offered a crap ton. Any reason to think Desherrius Flowers could get a look at another position?
Or are we just going to take Flowers and Robinson and call it a day? Not that I would be unhappy with that

I think Flowers is officially being recruited to play RB but I also remember some talk about him possibly being a better prospect on D back when he committed. Wouldn't be surprised if we sign 2 others

According to WUSA, Friendship Collegiate Academy (Washington D.C.) head coach Azaar Abdul-Rahim will join the Alabama staff as a defensive analyst.
