You guys are tripping. Let's not be those guys who automatically say we don't like some prospects more because they choose not to go our school and like a lesser one more because they did.
You can look back at my posts in this thread, Ive been questioning interest in these guys from the beginning and voiced the same opinion you just responded to.

In no way shape or form is Sills anything near Waller.
This. If we take Sills it is only because we whiffed on Waller and Dormady.

Awesome gameday sign, especially if you include:
"Class of 2015 Recruiting MEGATHREAD" underneath it on the sign.

Got a CB for LA H-Back Bry'Keithon Mouton.
Eta: Pretty sure he is the brother of current commitment T.D. Moton but they do not live together and disagree on how to spell things.

if no waller, just take another safety and be done. none of these guys (including waller) will probably ever see the field anyway, especially if we get eason next year. It will go coker, cornwell/bateman, eason

Blake Barnett said the staff told him he was #1 on the board.
I'm almost to the point of not giving a shite who we land. I just want it to be over.

Can't operate under the assumption that we're going to get Eason though

2014: Coker, Sims, Morris, Bateman, Cornwell
2015: Coker, Morris, Bateman, Cornwell, [insert random freshman]
2016: Bateman, Cornwell, Morris, [random 2nd year QB], freshman
Morris will likely be gone way before 2016 arrives, wouldn't be shocked for it to be in the next 6 months TBH.
In 2016, the next Qb battle is penciled in between Bateman, Cornwell, and the 2015 signee. You subtract that signee, it's down to Bateman, Cornwell, and the true freshman. One of Bateman or Corwnell loses the competition, and they transfer. Leaving Bama with the depth chart of exactly 2 QBs: 1 st year starter and a freshman who has been on campus since January.
They can't afford to throw out 2015 QB recruiting, because you can't bank on getting the guy you want in 2016. And even if you do, what if he is Mr. Glass or isn't what you though? You wasted 2 years of QB recruiting and came away with nothing.
It's out of caution and necessity, worst case he fills a spot depth wise and transfers out when he knows his future there is null. It's a lame duck role, but it's a choice that has to be made to avoid a Shula situation or one A&M may be looking at right now.

quote:no, but we can go on the assumption that we can get someone else at least as good as waller or sills in 2016 if we dont get eason. waller is a system mismatch at this point, mostly just potential. he would be a perfect fit into the barn's offense, but what he does in highschool is completely different than what we do (plays out of the shotgun, lots of read option, does not go through a read progression, makes ill-advised throws, has suspect footwork), and he would face a steep learning curve and be in competition against 2 other young guys with equal or greater physical tools amd upside (bateman and cornwell), who have the advantage of more time in system. If either of those guys win the job the chance of waller taking it from them is slight. Eason or whomever we take in 2016 would at least have a little distance from cornwell. Past history indicates that if we take a qb this year they will not end up playing and will transfer. And sills has no chance at playing unless the team bus crashes and he is the only surviving qb. i have a stronger arm than he does, the ball takes 4 seconds to get there even on short routes. He would be a waste of a scholarship.
Can't operate under the assumption that we're going to get Eason though

Yep, you look at our QB depth right now and think we really don't need to sign one this year. But you have to look a couple years down the line and factor in likely attrition. We need a QB in this class for depth in 2016

I think everybody is forgetting an important fact. Alabama and the juggernaut that's been build doesn't need an Andrew Luck to win and win big. Not a person on this board was geeked up when GMac signed, yet he'll forever wear a c'ship ring on his finger. Hell, with the defense we usually field and with the WR and RB we have, I think my fat arse could win 10 games playing half drunk.
I can't think of many games since 2008 that poor QB play has cost us a win. Relax guys, it's all good.

I was excited about Gmac signing. We have qb depth and can wait for 2016.
