You want to call that an apples to apples comparison, yet fail to mention the fact that the prospective hires in this scenario are literally all unemployed with minimal job history, but if they turn out to mostly be poor employees your boss will not hesitate to fire you, not them, even though he signed a written contract with you to keep you for 5 years. Your prospective hires couldn't give a frick about your master craftsmanship and are in fact primarily concerned with whether you are interviewing other people, whether the current staff is good at their jobs, and how pretty the female employees of the business down the hall are. Also, they continue to interview for other jobs after accepting your offer and frequently change their minds and go work for someone else on what was supposed to be their first day with you, which you find out about on Facebook or Instagram.

By your standards no coach should ever leave any job because that coach recruited players to come there. That is an absolutely ridiculous outlook to take on any profession, much less one like coaching where the boss is often unreasonably demanding and will not hesitate to fire you at any time.

I can’t believe this thread has gotten so much mileage out of that resignation/hire.

Mel Tucker right now.

Coaches can come and go as they please. Just don't blatantly LIE to everyone on the way out.

This is for everyone here that has some interest in this subject. I just don't get this part:

Why do these head coaches want to send all these absolute denials to the recruits and family, to begin with? They aren't the press or media. They aren't looking to run with the latest gossip.

They came to play for Tucker because they like him, want to be mentored by him. It's a hell of an obligation on their part, so why treat these players and family with the same verbal disdain and stonewalling you are saving for the press?

Haven't these multimillionaire businessmen, who have been in these homes for decades, learned how to frame their words better than no, I'm not going anywhere?

Drew Pearson deserved a much better answer when he asked Tucker if he was staying to coach his grandson.

Quite a few of you guys have been talking about Charlie Strong popping up in Tuscaloosa. While we have not confirmed it's a done deal, we expect Strong to join the Alabama football staff in an off-the-field role. The former Louisville, Texas and USF head coach brings a wealth of defensive knowledge to the program. (Charlie Potter, BOL)

Source tells FootballScoop after fielding a number of offers from various SEC programs, Charlie Strong appears to have selected Alabama as his next stop. We hear an agreement could be in place soon. Stay tuned…

Strong rumor that Sark has accepted the Colorado job.

Paul Finebaum tossing fake news clickbait out there doesn't make it a "strong rumor."
quote:

The Buffaloes have one winning season in the last 14 years, and whomever takes over will become the school’s fifth head coach since Colorado moved to the PAC12 before the 2011 season. The Buffaloes record within the PAC12 is 20-61, and each of the last three years have ended with a 5-7 overall record.

Colorado AD says there is "no leading candidate," per report (247Sports)
quote:

It’s been five days since Mel Tucker suddenly departed Colorado for Michigan State, a move that left the Buffaloes looking for a new head coach after National Signing Day. It’s definitely a position that no school wants to be in.

According to the latest from Mike Klis of 9 News in Denver, several sources close to the situation believe Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy is the man to beat for the job. However, Klis says athletic director Rick George sent a message through a Colorado sports information director saying: "No offer has been made. There is no leader in the clubhouse. We’re still in the process of reaching candidates."

Klis also reports that Bieniemy, a former Colorado running back and assistant coach, is weighing the possibilities of taking the opening or remaining with the Chiefs and becoming an NFL head coach in 2021. Klis points out that he has taken several interviews with NFL teams in each of the last two seasons, but the end result has been returning to be Andy Reid’s top offensive assistant.

The news outlet was the first to report last week that CU contacted Bieniemy. Klis writes that after speaking with the university, Bieniemy and his family took a short vacation that had been planned long ago and he is expected back early this week.

Alabama offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian, who has ample experience in the Pac-12, has also been floated as a candidate according to Klis. However, it’s unclear if the CU administration is seriously considering him.

George quickly elevated Darrin Chiaverini from CU receivers/assistant head coach to interim head coach following Tucker's departure. Chiaverini was also promised a formal interview for the full-time head coaching job. Chiaverini is considered one of the strongest recruiters on the Buffaloes’ staff.

SportsLine oddsmakers listed Bieniemy with the fifth-best odds to become the next Colorado head coach. The coordinator was a potential candidate for multiple NFL head coach openings after the regular season, but he was ultimately passed over. The insiders at Pro Football Talk believe Bieniemy should be considered a top candidate, much higher than the odds suggest.

“Colorado will now be scrambling to find a new head coach extremely late in the hiring cycle,” writes Pro Football Talk. “With Bieniemy’s connections to the school, he seems certain to be considered for the job coming off a Super Bowl victory earlier this month. Bieniemy is Colorado’s all-time leading rusher. He rushed for 3,940 yards with 4,351 all-purpose yards and 42 total touchdowns during his time in Boulder.

"He was a consensus All-American in 1990 as Colorado was named the national champion. Bieniemy would become a second-round pick of the San Diego Chargers in 1991. Bieniemy spent two seasons as offensive coordinator at Colorado under head coach Jon Embree in 2011 and 2012. Bieniemy would join the Chiefs as a running backs coach in 2013 after Embree’s staff was dismissed after the 2012 season.”

Sources: Charlie Strong is expected to return to Tuscaloosa this week, possibly as soon as tomorrow. Sounds like things continue to move toward him joining the Alabama staff in a support staff capacity.

Charlie Strong expected back in Tuscaloosa this week (AL.com | Matt Zenitz)

Alabama may be on the verge of adding a well-known coach to its staff. Charlie Strong, who was in Tuscaloosa for two days last week, is expected to return to Tuscaloosa this week and possibly as soon as tomorrow, according to sources.

It’s looking like things continue to move toward Strong joining the Alabama staff in a support staff capacity, per sources. Strong would become the latest big-name coach to join Nick Saban’s staff in an off-field role.

The 59-year old has been a head coach at Louisville (2010-13), Texas (2014-16) and South Florida (2017-19) and was previously Florida’s defensive coordinator under Urban Meyer.
