Not sure why people think you can't do both. It was never about which one was better, it was always about they both deserve support.

I think that there are a couple of reasons:

1. They take spectator sports way too seriously, probably to make up for other inadequacies in their lives.

2. A general lack of perspective.

Dude it is a message board where fans have discussion. It is no different than when fans rode the kicker for sucking. Had there been a 3 star All American kicker on the bench that never missed a kick in mop up duty every member of this community would be calling for the kicker to be benched daily. No different than calling for Cotton to be replaced in favor of Wills or Leatherwood either. Quarterback is more important than those two positions.

As far as supporting the guys go I haven't missed a home game in two years plus I traveled for both preseason games and I went to all three playoff games. I didn't just sit on my arse either you can ask the old couple behind me all year. I spent a lot of time and money supporting our team and cheered when Jalen made a play. I wanted him to succeed. I did. Don't tell me I didn't give enough support bro. Doesn't fly.

I support all the players on the team. Doesn't mean I want them on the field. When there's a player out there that's dragging the whole team down, it should be talked about on a DISCUSSION board.
Idk what's so hard to understand about that

There is discussion, and then there is obsessive, blind trashing.

The former is appropriate and encouraged, and the latter warrants someone possibly calling you an a-hole.

Idk what is so hard to understand about that.

You didn't stick up for the kicker or Lester Cotton when they were trashed all year. You were one of the guys that said late in the year that you had absolute faith in Hurts ability to throw the ball. These discussions were a back and forth between those who knew he sucked and those dumb enough to take up for him and say he didn't. Both sides participated and that is what happens on a message board designed for it even if you don't like or agree with what is said. That is the point.

I can post your exact quote also and Salsa even bluntly asked if you really had no concern with him passing and your reply was simply "none".

I absolutely stuck up for Pap. He wasn't even that bad for us last season.

Cotton? He wasn't trashed nearly on the level Jalen was. Not even close. I didn't even think that Cotton was that bad for us last season either. Inconsistent, sure. But the whole oline was.

I mean, I thought that he had somewhat turned a corner after the MSU game, and I thought that we could win it all with him back there. Many on here did. I was wrong. Ive admitted as much many times on here. What is your point? What does that have to with people obsessively trashing players? And idk how late in the season you are talking about. I made it pretty clear that my mind had changed after the AU game

Some people would call him trash even when did well. And that is all some people would post about. Literally. There would be a post about basketball and someone would turn it into a Jalen sucks thread. That is the point.

I think you are a good poster Data, and we are on the same side. I am not completely innocent in all of that stuff, I admit. We've already called our truce.

So you were first to know Tua was better yet proudly gave your opinion that Jalen would be the starter until he left the program leaving Tua one year as starter. Bull shite Boz. I can pull up your quote rather easily and could find many, many more that makes your claim look more foolish.

I’ll save you the trouble I was referencing if Jalen won the natty he would start no matter what. Of course my opinion was always Jalen was an Ok passer while Tua was better. My opinion on Tua not starting the entire year was right and I actually didn’t think the old man would pull the trigger until I learned Tua was being prepped for worst case scenario. Aside from that it is possible to know a player is better but make an opinion based on Sabans typical MO. Just food for thought.

Ya'll back off Boz a bit. I don't know his connection to the program, but he's been right more than he's been wrong (and everyone is wrong sometimes, even coaches or support staff - I had a guy on support staff years ago tell me Nick Brassell was Bama bound only 2 days before NSD. Brassell didn't play for Bama guys. Should I tell the guy in football ops he's FoS?).

I spoke to a guy who has coached HS ball in Alabama for 40 years a few days before Clemson and he'd been at practice before they left T-town. He confirmed that Tua was getting a ton of 1st team reps and that there was a package with both on the field at same time with jet sweeps, tunnels & bubbles, option, and more with Jalen not at QB. Not of that happened, but I know he's not FoS b/c he's taken me to practices before so I know he speaks from first hand knowledge. I get the impression Boz does too.

What he knows or doesn't know has nothing to do with how Boz gets treated. He brings it upon himself. Really, the fact that he does have some connections and every once in a while brings info that isn't already assumed by anyone with common sense is the only reason that ANYONE here defends him. Otherwise, everyone would get tired of being talked down to by someone with the IQ of a potato.

It wasn't discussion going on. It was 100% pure people throwing fits and taking things to the extreme because they weren't getting what they wanted.

It's the same thing with basketball. It's not talk about team struggles it was "Avery sucks, fire him" over and over.

I actually avoid this forum more than I probably would because it's the same stupid shite over and over.

Now if you want to actually bring something about X's and O's and shite, I love that kind of stuff. But listening to people sitting around seeing how many times they can say someone sucks in a night isn't that.

Sorry, you can't spew out your negative bullshite day after day and then talk about how you support them because you go to games. It's like being abusive about your wife and feeling you're justified because you give her money.

Boz, Here's what I've learned in this group: Assholes get up vote, while common sense folks with rational answer get down vote...

Who cares? I downvoted you just for mentioning the votes. I don't understand why anyone would be motivated by upvotes or pissed off about downvotes. I honestly give upvotes or downvotes based on the quality of the post. I think some posters downvote a post based on who posted it if they don't like the poster. Either way, enjoy yourself and don't worry about the votes. Wish they would just do away with them.

I completely agree. I hate having to basically bash a kid I like and have a lot of respect for in every conversation I have about alabama football. IRL or online it just sucks, but it is what it is. I too, will be glad to see it end.

You don't have to say anything particularly bad about Jalen just to have an honest conversation about the QB position going forward. It's actually pretty easy to acknowledge Tua is the better passer without even saying a bad word about Jalen. Be positive about Tua, not negative about Jalen.
