Byrne gonna be remembered as the honored one as far as Alabama athletics goes but Mal Moore bagging Nick will go down as the holy grail of AD hires. Nick made it possible for Greg to go on the absolute war path he’s gone on this last decade or so.
Still huge credit to him, but he’s had a blessed existence as an AD.

Mal cemented his legacy with Saban. Byrne did the same with CNO and being able to keep him in Tuscaloosa.

Just letting yall know, he and Oats have a very strong relationship. That's one hire Byrne knocked out of this park. If Byrne ever goes, there's a high chance we lose Oats.

Byrne has done his job. Football may have taken a small step back which was expected and to me has less to do with coaching than it does with the current state of CFB and more to do with Alabamas ability to compete financially with the other big names in CFB or the recklessness of LSU. But he hired coaches who got Bama back to the CWS which was a much harder job than Nate turning the basketball program around and look at what he has done. Trend of anybody has earned an extension and raise.

Byrne reportedly reupped the Nike contract but never released the details which leads many to believe it wasn't that great of a deal.

Why be in a rush to do this. The price to do business normally goes up. No need to lock us into a 10 year deal we’ll regret soon. We aren’t hurting for money.
