As a history and sociology guy, attached is a link to something you might be interested in listening to. It is a little book by Thomas Sowell, read by Sowell, in which he covers a lot of the history and sociology of southerners. What he says is a bit painful for us to hear, but it is enlightening.

Sooo. So well was pretty challenging, huh?
It stung but the truth is we down here can be a bit lackadaisical, hand to mouth, unindustrious and given to drunkenness and the raw pursuit of amusement. I was convicted.

Was an excellent audio piece. I enjoyed it. I didn’t agree with everything but I did on a great many things.

Thanks for posting this. Sowell is a national treasure, shame that more folks don't know about him. His work should be required reading at every university.

If you haven’t already, give “The Housing Boom and Bust” a look. It’s a perfect autopsy of the housing market crash of ‘08, and is (in my opinion) a sober forecast of things to come in light of the newly introduced lending standards.
