I like listening online since it is all college football all day but what is the deal with their advertisers? Opiod addiction clinics, Scam weight loss pills, Ambulance chasing lawyers, mental health facilities. WNSP in Mobile is car dealerships, restaurants, local manufacturing, banks. Its so low rent

There are plenty of these advertisements on WJOX as well. Hometown lenders, "we wanna see ya, in a riverchase Kia", Twin Peaks, etc.

At least the Alabama Men's Clinic has improved their radio ads. I used to hate those stupid things.

Fook you man, Dunaway is awesome. They're given the liners the sales team can get.

Man, that's everywhere, including major market area television commercials.

It's the world we live in.

Speaking of which, the ads that declare you have to have help to beat an addiction is bullshite. I can go with "most people need help" but I know for a fact that not everybody does. It's just business, and therapy is big business these days.

To me, it's not the content or quality of the ads, it's the freaking quantity of them. They're on a real commerical break enough as it is, but dang everything they do is a sponsored event. The Alexander Shunarrah "lock of the day", the royal bedding steak bets, the Legacy Credit Union hotline, the 4 downs brought to you by phone repair, or the sneaky game of the week brough to you by TJC mortgage.
I'd guess 50% of airtime is some type of advertisement.

It's quite nauseasting, adn makes me enjoy listening to satelitte college sports station with it's minimal advertising.

One is a small, locally-owned station. The other is part of a huge radio corporation (Cumulus) that probably gets a lot of blanket ads.

WJOX is so terrible. I just can't listen to local sports radio.

They have a lot, but it's because the businesses are buying it. The radio station gets a good bit of change, and on top of that, the host get a talent fee on top of it. And because they're buying a certain amount of spots every month, they expect to be mentioned.

Also remember that Lance on The Roundtable is a sales guy himself.

I always switch to the local sports channel during commercials (I'm in Tuscaloosa) or a music channel that's not talking or playing commercials also.

Good point. Have you heard the shite on there now in that time slot? It's like some high school kids doing a show in their AV club. That and the Saturday morning show are basically unlistenable.

The Opening Drive is cringeworthy. Can't get through it.

I really enjoy the Roundtable and liked Matt and Scott. Was confused by that decision.
