...in the same athletic year. There have been 3-4 co-basketball champions (Florida 1x, Alabama 2-3 times) with attached football champions, but sole outright winners there are only 2 programs that have done it in the entire history of the Southeastern Conference - going all the way back to 1933 (87 years).

Florida 2006-2007
- Football (13-1, 7-1) (SEC Champs) (National Champs) (#1)
- Basketball (35-5, 13-3) (SEC Champs) (National Champs) (#1)

Alabama 1975-1976
- Football (11-1, 6-0) (SEC Champs) (Sugar Bowl Champ) (#3)
- Basketball (25-5, 15-3) (SEC Champs) (Sweet 16 loss to 32-0, national champion Indiana) (#6)

If we could do it this year we would be the 3rd program in 87 years to accomplish it. That'd be something.

My dad vaguely bitches about the refs in this game from time to time. Need to watch it myself

It’s all about the “data points”...

But seriously, dude is good at stats/analytics and usually puts it in a format that is visually easy to understand. Honestly don’t know how he has the time. Seems like a full time job. Hmmm...is Chicken paying you, SOG?

Luckily I manipulate data (as in the format, not fraud LOL) for a living and have found some pretty easy data sites to yank from.

But even with that I probably spend too much time on it

Why is it anytime Alabama gets super far in basketball relative to our history we always end up losing to the eventual national champion?

First it was Indiana then it was UConn.

The Florida season is truly the GOAT (unless of course we can match it )

Yea we've had some really good teams seasons end at the hands of either (a) the eventual national champs or (b) the hottest team in the tournament.

It’s hard to see our team beating say Gonzaga however, if we make it in the elite 8 I would be incredibly excited.

It'd be nice if we got some upsets go our way to lay out a nice path for us for the first time ever

I still get mad thinking about it. Benson should have fouled out, and McCord was mugged at half court late in the game with no call. I was 13 so I may have been a little biased. But I did hear Bobby Knight say years later that Alabama was the only team he thought could beat them.
