OK loses to Okie State. Then beats Baylor. Utah gets beat by Oregon. LSU beats GA. That’s our 100% path and I honestly think it happens. Oklahoma has struggled all year. They can definitely lose to State and have proven they can beat Baylor. And I think Herbert and the Ducks figure it out agains

100% this. This is our only path to the playoff’s barring a Clemson loss.

I think they are actually setting us up to get in. What other reason do they have by bumping lsu down?

To match Clemson in Atlanta for a regional game and more ticket sales.. it’s all about ticket sales. Clemson has made it every year like us.. their fans are like ours and will pay for the championship game more than playoff game. LSU will travel and pick up the rest of the tickets

Closer for the two fan bases and it will be packed.. plus in 2012 in Atlanta LSU created this monster by losing to them

Move OSU and Utah to Arizona and it will sell out with one team being close and OSU fans hungry again. Just makes sense.

We really need Oregon to win and that will help a lot. Not too sure Oklahoma would jump us.. that would be a close call.. then again not sure I want OSU in Arizona either..lol but I will be glad to be in.. I just don’t want to play Oklahoma in a bowl game that doesn’t mean crap and we have everything to lose. Jalen vs Saban and if Oklahoma wins we would never hear the end of how Saban messed up by the media

I would not give up on aTm this weekend. Jimbo is due to win one of these games on their crazy difficult schedule. It’s not like they’ve been beaten by a bunch of peter puffs.

Meaning if that game does happen it would be LSU vs Bama rematch for the natty. The game this year was the most watched game in the last 8 years. They want this to happen.

Are they having trouble selling tickets to these games?

If OSU is #1, they will not choose to play Utah in Arizona. Certainly they would choose the ATL both as a benefit for their fans and a detriment to Utah fans.

Georgia was that chance. And they did have a chance.
LSU has a bit of a personal vendetta against Jimbo and aTm.
I do not expect a letdown by the Bayou Bengals.

That was kinda my thinking. But with no Tua vs Burrow II I wonder if it’s a ratings pull?

It’s quite evident the committee is lining up every possible team to move in over Alabama barring Armageddon for everyone else. If Utah wins out, they jump us. If Utah stumbles and Oklahoma wins out, they jump us. If UGA wins out, LSU bumps us out in the 4th slot. If OSU loses to Michigan but wins the B1G, they bump us out. It’s even possible that Baylor wins out and jumps us. Only a Clemson loss or everyone else below us losing one gets us in. Alabama’s chances are on life support.

Only way Bama gets in is a convincing win at Auburn where Mac Jones looks like an elite QB and Utah and OU lose.

All of that is possible, but the media has stacked the deck against this Alabama team. Which is a real shame because I think Bama is the 4th best team in the country right now even with Mac at the helm. People are acting like Mac is some scrub walk on with no talent. Homeboy was a 4-star, Elite 11 QB and he’s in his 3rd year in our system. Give him a month of prep time and I think he performs very well in a semi game.

CFP Rankings with SOR & GC (game control)
#6 Utah SOR 11, GC 9 | #5 Bama SOR 5, GC 4

#6 Utah's Resumé ........ #5 Bama's Resumé
(Bama's resumé shuffled for comparability)
w 30-12 at BYU 7-4 ....... w 49-07 vs USM 7-4
w 35-17 vs N-IL 5-7 ...... w 62-10 vs NMS 2-9
w 31-00 vs IDST 3-9 ..... w 66-03 vs WCU 3-9
L 23-30 at USC 8-4 ....... L 41-46 vs LSU 11-0
w 38-13 vs Wazu 6-5 .... w 59-31 vs OMS 4-8
w 21-03 vs AZST 6-5 .... w 35-13 vs Tenn 6-5
w 35-00 vs CAL 6-5 ...... w 38-07 at MSU 6-6
w 33-28 at Wash 6-5 .... w 47-28 at ATM 7-4
w 49-03 vs Ucla 4-7 ...... w 42-03 ns Duke 4-7
w 35-07 at ARIZ 4-7 ...... w 48-07 vs ARK 2-9
__ __-__ vs COL 5-6 ........ w 47-23 at USC 4-7
__ __-__ ns ORE 9-2 ........ __ __-__ at AUB 8-3

1. Bama's loss to #2 LSU > Utah's to #22 USC.
2. Utah's best wins = Wash & AZST.
3. Bama's best wins = ATM & Tenn.
4. #14 ORE close losses: #15 AUB & AZST.
5. #15 AUB close losses: Top-15 LSU, UGA, UF.
6. ATM losses: Top-15 CU, UGA, AL, AU.
7. Tenn losses: Top-15 UGA, UA, UF.
8. OM, MSU, ARK losses: Top-15 LSU, UA, AU.
9. ORE vs AUB = only PAC12 vs ranked SEC.
Q: How many Top-15 teams are in the PAC12?

Bottom line: Bama's resumé > Utah's resumé.

Four simple steps

Beat Awbarn
Beat Awbarn by 10 points
Beat Awbarn like a step child
Beat Awbarn

All might get us in but number 3 should ensure it; unless Georgia beats LSWho.

The worst part about this is that with Tua still healthy, we’d be a shoo in at this point. This season was just cursed.

It was.

No, we wouldn't be - not at all. We'd have a bit of a better case, but we wouldn't be a shoo in by any stretch of the imagination. Bama at best would be a 1-loss non-conference champion with a so-so defense and terrible SOS - and an awesome QB. That's never a shoo in in the face of potential 1-loss conference champions with similar or better resumes. Utah's resume could be similar, and 1-loss Minnesota's would be better if they win out. 1-loss GA's resume would be better, as would LSU's and Ohio State's should they drop a close game

Tua could be Wolverine-level healthy, and in any scenario where we have a loss that keeps us out of the SEC championship game in a year with a suspect defense and pitiful SOS, we're struggling to get in against several teams almost every time.

What's crappy is that if Duke was replaced on our schedule with Wisconsin, Iowa, or Oklahoma St, we'd probably be fine with a loss. Same goes if SoCar was better or if TexAM had played a schedule like ours. If TexAM had our schedule, they're a top-15 team.

What's really crazy is that if TexAM or a similar team played Clemson's schedule , they're undefeated - as would be nearly every top 25 team.
