The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released the latest Women’s Watch List on Wednesday after a careful deliberation by The Bowerman Watch List Committee. Fifteen athletes received votes, with the Top-10 comprising the Watch List.
The newest members of the Watch List are Anna Cockrell of Southern California and Camryn Rogers of California. They join eight returning members: Mercy Chelangat of Alabama, Tamara Clark of Alabama, Tara Davis of Texas, Tyra Gittens of Texas A&M, Tonea Marshall of LSU, Athing Mu of Texas A&M, Twanisha (TeeTee) Terry of Southern California and Ruth Usoro of Texas Tech.

An accomplished swimming student-athlete, Nonnenberg swam at Alabama from 2015-18. A two-time team captain, she was also a four-time NCAA Division I Championship individual qualifier, a NCAA Division I All-America Honorable Mention in the 400 IM, and set then-school records in the 500 and 1650 freestyle and 200 and 400 IM events. Nonnenberg was also named a First Team Scholar All-American twice, and to the Southeastern Conference Honor Roll on four occasions.

Edson Ortiz Closes Alabama Career with Three Set Battle at NCAA Men’s Tennis Championships
Edson Ortiz finished his storied Alabama men's tennis career with a back-and-forth battle against Andres Martin from Georgia Tech, before falling 6-7(2), 7-6(6), 6-1 Sunday afternoon at the USTA National Campus.
The match see-sawed back and forth from the word go, with Ortiz closing out the first set with a 7-2 score in the tiebreaker. The second set was more of the same with both players taking the lead at different points, before it ended up knotted six-all. The second-set tiebreaker continued the battle, before Martin eked out an 8-6 win, to force a third and deciding set.

The Alabama duo of Patrick Kaukovalta and Riccardo Roberto battled Central Florida's Trey Hilderbrand and Bogdan Pavel in the first round of the NCAA Men's Tennis Championships doubles draw, ultimately falling, 6-2, 6-7(4), 8-10, with the matching being decided by a 10-point tiebreak set.
After starting out the match tied at 2-2, Kaukovalta and Roberto went on a four-game run, winning the first set 6-2. The next set was a back-and-forth fight that came down to a 6-6 tie, with the hometown UCF tandem winning the tiebreaker 7-4. The third and deciding set was a 10-point tiebreaker. Much like the previous set, the two teams went back-and-forth, knotting the set at 8-8 before the Knights edged the Tide, 10-8.

The Crimson Tide contingent of 30 student-athletes includes 15 men and 15 women
After a pair of practice days in Jacksonville, Fla., Alabama track and field is set to compete at the 2021 NCAA East Preliminary on the University of North Florida campus May 26-29 at Hodges Stadium.
The top-48 declared student-athletes from each region (East and West) in each individual event will contend for NCAA Outdoor Championships berths at one of two regional sites. With the East in Jacksonville, the West Region is in College Station, Texas.
Qualifying to the NCAA Championships' final site at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore., from June 9-12, is accomplished through performances in the Preliminary rounds of competition, with 12 competitors in each individual event and 12 teams in each relay advancing from each Preliminary site, filling 24 slots in each event at nationals.

Alabama Volleyball Incoming Freshman Shaye Eggleston Earns Second-Straight Tennessee Gatorade Player of the Year Award
Alabama volleyball incoming freshman Shaye Eggleston was named the Gatorade Tennessee Volleyball Player of the Year for the second-straight season.
A native of Brentwood, Tenn., Eggleston led Brentwood High School to a 38-3 record in 2020, earning the program's eighth-straight Class AAA state title. She finished the season with 490 kills, 269 digs, 36 blocks and 36 aces. A three-time All-State honoree, she was named to the 2020-21 Under Armour All-America team alongside fellow Crimson Tide newcomers Sami Jacobs and Brooke Slusser.
