Bama in the mix for the men’s and women’s titles late. We have individual event winners but probably don’t have the depth down the scoring to beat Arky or LSU. We win a race and get 10 points but Arky has three in the points and beat us 15-10. Dan Waters is working miracles with what he has.

I agree, Alabama used to be nowhere in sight for track and field and swimming and diving as well. It’s amazing what is happening throughout the athletic department.

Dirty play by Arky in the men’s 5000m

Greg Byrne definitely deserves AD of the year!

So no one from Ark was dq’d for impeding the Alabama runner?

We are good in long distance runs, not so much in sprints.

The RollTide.com write up:

Alabama Track and Field Men Take Second, Women Finish Third at the SEC Outdoor Championships

The Crimson Tide tallied five individual titles on the final day of the championships

It was the Alabama men's best SEC outdoor finish since also finishing second in 1985 and the highest for the women since winning the title since 1994.

Dude, Tamara Clark. She swept the 100 and 200 meters, with the fastest time in collegiate history in the 200. We just need three like her to score and win championships. Also, Robert Dunning won the 110M hurdles.

We also hired Carmelita Jeter last year for women’s sprints. Olympic gold medalist (4x100 relay) and world class sprinting legend. We’re working on it.

Alabama Swimming and Diving Posts Strong Showing at Atlanta Classic

The Crimson Tide broke four school records and posted some of the nation’s top times in the three-day meet

ATLANTA, Ga. – Alabama swimmers enjoyed a big weekend at the Atlanta Classic, the last meet prior to the upcoming United States Olympic Team Trials.

Rhyan White led the way with a pair of school records in the backstroke events. She won the 200-meter backstroke with a career-best 2:07.07, a school record, the third fastest time in the world this year and the ninth all-time in U.S. history on Saturday. She was second in the 100-meter backstroke with another school record, posting a 58.43, which ranks second in the U.S. this year and fourth in the world rankings. White turned in a 58.78 in the 100-meter butterfly to take third in Atlanta and rank 11th in the U.S. this year. White has qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials Wave II in all three events.
