Man I’m sad to hear about Robert Stewart. Loved that guy, a really humble team player who made the difficult switch from RB to NG, worked his tail off and then excelled. I think Bebes once commented that he did everything he was asked, and anything he could to help the team, & never complained.
Agree. Stewart was one of my favorite players from that time period.
I remember an article from The Birmingham News the week before the ... 1991 (I think) Florida game. The reporter was interviewing a Florida back and asked about Stewart, who the year before had made the transition to nose guard. The Florida player laughed, and the reporter wrote that his (the reporter's) ears perked up when he heard the laugh; he said he thought he was about to get some good bulletin-board material from the Florida player about how a fullback couldn't play nose guard.
The Florida player said something like, "Man, I remember him. Trying to run through him was like trying to run through a brick wall. You hit him and just stopped. That dude is strong."
RIP, Robert. You were one of the building blocks that helped return Alabama to greatness in the early 90s.

HE posted that he was transferring via the portal due to some Mental health issues and committed to UConn. If I read this correct there is a really good facility about an hour away from UConn and hope he gets all the help he needs.

What you need to do is start posting more of those high quality, 3-4 sentence Stephen M. Smith articles he use to do.
. Makes me wonder if his content ever improved.

Odd seeing only one of our OLinemen on that list.
Byron Young on first team is a nice nod for him.

I had a class with Robert and he was a very quiet and humble dude who was always smiling. He was a stout fellow, for sure. In contrast, I had a class with Sherman Williams and he was quite the opposite. I’m glad he turned his life around.

He spent most of the winter session at Chris Herron's facility in Mass. He credited the staff there for turning his life around and this would appear to be a reason to transfer to UConn for the closeness and ability to get future needed help. Bravo to Herron, the staff and Dayne Shor for being brave enough to reach out before he had gone too far to recover.

Crimson Tide Quote of the Day
“The lessons of discipline, sacrifice, hard work, team work, fighting to achieve, aren’t being taught by many people other than coaches. A football coach has a captive audience and can teach these lessons because the communication lines between himself and his players are more open than between kids and parents. We’d better teach these lessons or else the country’s future population will be made up of a majority of crooks, drug addicts or people on relief. He was surely ahead of his time as far as the game and with people,”
— Woodrow Lowe, who was born in in Phenix City, Ala., on this date in 1954, while quoting Paul W. “Bear” Bryant.
