Is it just me or has there been a dearth of practice report information for this game? No injury updates, no info about how practices are going, etc.

Seems like there was a lot more information available before every other game this season

All Things CW: The Fallacy Surrounding the Georgia Defense When Compared to Alabama

The defensive numbers aren't what most fans would expect. What happened to the players who transferred out of the Alabama? And will Nick Saban be welcome back in Ohio?

Gotta love Brian Robinson and his attitude, epitome of a team player. He could easily have transferred but persevered & stuck with it. Gonna miss this guy.

“He (Saban) held his word with everything he said he was going to do for me. He’s done everything in his power to help me.”

And Robinson shared what can happen to even the best of prospects at Alabama.“Sometimes, I had to explain to some of these recruits that everything is not going to necessarily be handed to you.  Some people just have different opportunities. Some guys come in, and they’re granted the opportunity after their freshman or sophomore year. Some guys like myself had to wait four years beside four or five great players before they really get an opportunity to play.”

I heard a little of Kevin Steele on wjox today discussing the Ala and Ga defenses. He said both have some basic parts the are exactly the same, but over time as they self scout and offenses have changed there are arms that have grown and are different. He said that unless you have two future NFL cornerbacks it puts the DC in an uncomfortable position to play man on the receivers and bring another pass rusher. He said Ga did not do that all year and did not need to, but against Ala it didnt work. The question is will Kirby change this time. Steele said the biggest problem he thought for Ga was breakdowns on 3rd down. Greg Mc said well thats because Ala ran bunches. "I would run a bunch play every time on Ga". Steele kind of agreed with him that it was a problem for Ga. Cole asked about doubling Williams since he torched Ga last time. Steele said that is easy to do, but then you have the other side of the field to cover. He said Nick Saban and Kirby both have 5 star receivers over there that you might not know much about, but they know exactly what they can do. So you have your other corner in man on someone that you dont know much about, and he might be the next star of the game.
Then he went through all the match up problems the Ga tight end causes. Steele went through all the different positions they line up that tight end. He said when Ga has 2 tights end in the game at the same time, its not as much of a match up problem.

The build up on this game seems muted so far. Don't know if it's Bama fatigue, rematch apathy, uninspiring destination or what. Hopefully the guys come out with their hair on fire and finish this surprising season!

I previously worked in leadership for the founder of a major company located primarily, although not exclusively, in the South. He would often be invited by various business entities, and companies to be a guest speaker discussing his vision and the specifics of his companies success. Afterwords, I noticed there were always 5-10 people at every function who would ask him, "Why do you tell all these people the KEY to your success"? "Aren't you afraid someone will steal your ideas"? He would rarely ever respond or answer. He privately told me: "Less than 1% of the people who are in a position to implement what I've told them will ever follow through with it, and even the ones that try, 80-90% of those will eventually allow themselves to get sidetracked by something else that seems more important to them at any given time". When I talk at these industry forums and give out my advice, I further build the brand. I never worry about .0002% when they have way too much catching up to do"! Needless to say, those comments put everything in perspective for me, and Kirby has a lot of catching up to do. And, we've ALL seen them stray and try shortcuts!

Let me say the MAIN themes were in general:

Quantify what success at any given point looks like

Hire Entreprenuars for lead roles and turn them loose (Avoid excessive rules; good people will innovate for you)(Bad people will always expose themselves)

Listen and Observe what others in the industry are doing. Ask/find out how they accomplished it, then Do EXACTLY THAT, replicate it. (don't reinvent the wheel)

He used to tell me he graduated from college with a C+ average. He'd also say he never invented anything in his life but had always been pretty good at hiring smart people and replicating/exceeding the success of others. Which was very true for him.

Faith, Family Help Alabama OL Emil Ekiyor Jr. Overcome Adversity

Alabama offensive lineman Emil Ekiyor Jr. is once again turning to his faith to overcome adversity as he returns home to Indianapolis for Monday's national championship game.
quote:

“Knowing Emil, it’s going to be hard to keep him off the field,” Emil Sr. said. “They’ll have to tie him down to keep him off the field. We’re just in prayer right now, hoping that he’ll be able to heal up and be ready to play by Monday.”
