Laguna on 247. Dude was straight up giddy when asking the UGA mods if it was true.

Looks like time to shift to a four man front (4-3) system as our base. Use what we have to cover what we don't.

4-3 blends of Base/Nickles/Dime with Kaho, Lee, Harris, Allen, Davis, Benton, Moody, Shy Cater, Xavier Making up the option from which to find the 3 LB's

Man this sucks!

It appears we'll be starting two true freshmen ILBs, Shane Lee and Christian Harris. Hopefully they'll be settled in by the time we're playing tougher competiton.

It is what it is and even without Moses I like this defense better then last year. Until we get to Atlanta not a team on our schedule(at least on paper) that can light it up. They have 12 games to prepare for the tougher offenses.

This also means we get what most fans have wanted, Tua in for 4 qtrs and the Heisman.

Saban just said on the SEC Teleconference that Shane Lee gets the first crack at it Saturday.

The gut of our defense is going to be DJ Dale at NT and Shane Lee and Christian Harris at ILB. 3 true freshmen who have never played a down.

At least it sounds like Ford will be able to play!

Saban: "Jerome Ford will play in the game if he's able to play in the game, which he's been practicing, so we assume that he can."

I think we have the personnel on the back end to play the type of defense that Saban played at LSU.

The calling card at bama has been to stifle the offense and it's a sin to give up a yard. Don't get me wrong, the Boa Constrictor mentality has been a thing of beauty. When he was at LSU it was more like a school of fricking Mako sharks. The linebacker group we trot out saturday as a whole will be better than anything he fielded at LSU and they used to just maul offenses.

I'd expect to see more 5 and 6 man rushes this season. Could be fun to watch. We've got some goons at pass rusher. The sit back and do your job approach is just going to be a lot to ask with 3 true freshmen forming the middle triangle of our front 7. Lost in the hysteria here is that DJ Dale is also starting in front of these guys.

don't give the offense time to pick apart rookies- just release the hounds on them and trust your first rounders on the back end. The offense will do their part.

I would open the game with
Front 4 - Raekwon/Dale/Ray/Jennings (left to right)
3 LBs - Harris (between Kwon & Dale)/Lee (behind Ray)/Xavier (behind outside Jennings)
Shy at safety and the 3 corners

In other (possible) good news? Cecil just tweeted this:

Saban said there was “misinformation” on [the reports of suspensions]. Sources indicate that no final decision regarding missed playing time has been reached, despite reports.

Saban was asked about suspensions to Najee Harris, Brian Robinson, Terrell Lewis and DeVonta Smith: "What happens on our team internally is an internal family decision that I don't feel is necessary to share with anybody outside our organization."

A lot of ACL injuries are due to wear and tear over an extended time. I would say it has more to do with these kids now enrolling in January for the whole spring workout and schedule as well as a season like ours getting 15 games in it while adding a few extra weeks of practice now each season. This wasn't the case 10 years ago.

I think this is where you start looking. Saban was already being cautious and holding some players out and I think he will start looking at the extended schedule and the approach we take moving forward.

Curious. Has a team won a championship in recent years with freshman inside linebackers?

I don't think we'll need to make any changes to (or "dumb down") our defensive schemes, play calling, etc. I think Lee and Dale are probably as mentally ready as they are physically and Harris will catch up mentally pretty quickly. They mainly just need some college level game experience.

Shane Lee is very smart, has a high football IQ, great vision and instincts, and is a "bookworm" studying the playbook, film, etc. Lee and Dale arrived on campus last winter.

Lee, Harris and Dale may make a few mistakes in the first few games as they get settled in, but I think they'll be up to the task by the time we face tougher competition.

I hope the first few teams we play try to exploit the middle of our defense. That'll provide good learning experience for Lee, Harris and Dale.
