Roydell Williams
I am in the minority here but I think this dude is going to be really good. I hate to use Auburn comparisons but he reminds me of Cadillac, Kenny Irons, Trae Mason and Tank. Not really big guys but tough, strong base and good balance. Maybe Ken Darby-ish. I like a good bow-legged RB.

You're not in the minority. He's a really good player. I saw someone compare his physique and running style to Frank Gore. He looks very similar. I hope that Roydell gets some carries.

Everyone on Alabama's roster is good.
The question is always who is the best.
Roydell Williams doesn't look better than anyone that I can see. Specifically who is Williams better than?
BRob is the presumed starter, apparently Trey Sanders is running at 2. Camar Wheaton is making noise - could even be our best back. Jase McClellan runs with a mean streak. Roydell Williams is probably behind all of those guys from a talent standpoint.
Not to mention, our offense is always better with one main guy at RB, and then one more guy as a relief guy. The RB by committee approach hasn't been good in the past. The coaches need to pick 2 guys, and roll with it.

Saban has confirmed X is out for the year for medical reasons. Has anyone heard why? Just curious. Seems rather sudden since I didn't hear anything about him getting nicked up during the summer.

I think all are better than BRob. Haven’t seen Wheaton (nobody has). Jase looked no better than Roydell. Trey is still recovering from major injuries so we don’t know if he has lost any speed or power. I’m say RW is the best of the group. Another good comparison is the Montgomery kid from Iowa St (now Bears).

quote:This is a ridiculous take. There’s a reason Robinson is running #1 right now and will probably get the most carried all year. I think it’ll look more like the share that we had during the years that Damien Harris, Josh Jacobs, and Najee all got plenty of carries, but it’s still like some of y’all think that you truly know more about our team than the coaches.

Also, if I could’ve gotten a dime for every Bama backup RB that was deemed better than the person starting over them, I tell you I’d be a rich man and retired early by now.

If Clover was our coach we wouldn’t have lost a game since the 90s

BRob is solid, a team player, upper classman and leader, but far from the best back in the room. It’s all just opinions at this point. We will know by season’s end whose take was ridiculous. Deal?

I have tons of respect for BRob, but he isn’t my type of back, and I’ve voiced that. He run incredibly hard, and I don’t fault him. It’s just about personal preference, I guess. I believe that Jase is the best back on our roster (c-tuddies, doesn’t count, I haven’t seen him). BRob and Williams might be interchangeable. BRob will start, but I’m not sure that he’ll get many more carries than Jase. Plus, BRob’s running style, takes a toll on a player

Over under of kickoff return TDs between Jameson and C-Tuddies if they win the job? I am going 5.5. If they put Jahleel back there again 30.5.

quote:I wouldn’t consider a guy who ran for 5.3 yards/carry on 483 yards rushing last year “far from the best back in the room”, but that’s just me. If that first sentence was used to describe Slade Bolden, sure I’d be fine with that, but B-Rob is altogether a different story. It’s been the same old story for the last 15 years with Bama RBs and people declaring our backups the team savior and the starter just a pity seniority case by the coaches. No Bama RB under Saban that came into the fall as the #1 guy has ever not been a top 2 rusher on the team, sans potentially Terry Grant due to how weird his career trajectory was. And literally every one of those in the past 11 years were drafted in the top 3 rounds except for Bo, who was still drafted. Outside of Damien Harris, actually all were drafted in the top 2 rounds.

I haven’t seen him play, but C-tuddies is going to break one. They’ll kick away from him after that. He’s’s going to break one tackle, and house a kick
