Because they promised him he would be the starter in 21 when he is fully healed.

The Ga spin has changed 100% in the last 4 weeks. Earlier Mike Griffith said Newman was getting beat out by Daniels and the QB that started the first game. Now its "agent contact"? Thats bs. Ala basketball player Sexton had agent contact. His parents paid back the meal money and the ncaa only made him sit out 1 or 2 games. Newman quit because they brought in Daniels. They screwed him over. I think its clear that Ga wanted Daniels to play this year, and its his idea to sit. Ga cleared him to play and Kirby says he is doing good in practice.

It seems plausible Newman might've talked with an agent about his NFL prospects, if he felt he wasn't winning the competition to be UGA's QB1 for 2020.

that makes very little sense. This season doesn't count against eligibility, and if he's concerned about being injured, then he wouldn't be practicing either.

Practicing in a non-contact Jersey isn't nearly as risky for re-injury as playing in a game.

so a guy that probably aspires to play in the NFL goes to Georgia not to play but to practice and improve, though UGA has had a bad reputation for developing quarterbacks.

Just doesn't make sense.

If I'm going somewhere to practice and improve I'd go to Oklahoma, Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State. UGA would be about the last place I'd go.

I assume it was his plan all along to not play this year and take the time to have his knee heal up. He went there after Newman transferred, so chances he was comfortable with having Newman play this year, turn pro, and then he'd have a couple years as QB1.

Plus, even though maybe UGA hasn't recently been good at developing QBs, maybe the dude had faith in Monken?

Maybe none those schools you listed offerred to take Daniels. Maybe when he transferred, he felt UGA was his best option and felt he could win the job over Newman and be starting at UGA in 2020 or worst case starting in 2021. There are reports that he needed and had a 2nd minor surgery on his repaired knee.

but that's what I said makes no sense after reading "its his idea to sit"

nevermind. It's not really that important to me anyway

anyone catch that quote Saban said today?

quote:

All those things are things that we’re focusing on. On the offensive side, we’ve gotta develop some depth in some other players -- especially at receiver now that we’ve lost Waddle for a while -- to step up and be able to add some depth and be a playmaker on that side. I don’t think there’s a player on our team, on either side of the ball or on special teams, that doesn’t know that there’s not something I can do a little bit better.

He's got a picnic, dance lessons, and a late-night planned at the club in Baton Rouge. That Bama game can wait. They know we're coming!

After 2 weeks of evaluating during the Bye and getting ready for Arkansas, Pruitt has decided that Guarantano is his QB and provides his team with the best chance to win. Pruitt believes this and Arkansas was hoping it.

I'm taking it that Smart truly believes that Bennett is better than Daniels and gives his team the best chance to win.

I truly believe that both these guys will never have a job they will ever do more efficiently than DC.
