STFU, Cobra! Sark and Saban don't know what they're doing!

Gonna have to hire a 24/7sports recruiting expert to lead this team to the promised land. Saban clearly doesn’t know how to get us there

I was talking about in 2017 with him starting over Tua to begin with.

In 2016, there was a large enough gap between him and Barnett that he ended up taking the reigns. Plus Barnett had barely any experience himself.

So what part of being a True Freshman would be that daunting for Byrce Young? He would be the third TF QB since 2016 that could play a major role in playing for the natty. Alabama has set the bar on getting TF QBs ready for prime time.

You trying to compare this to 2016 is dumb. You want to know why? Because it’s not the same situation. Barnett was a redshirt freshman. He had basically no experience himself and just one year on the team. Mac is a better QB then Barnett too.

Yeah Mac wasn’t a full time starter, but he has 5.5 games of staring experience as well. And this is his 4th year on team. Meanwhile Bryce has been here barely 2 months, and even missed some practice. This shouldn’t be hard to understand.

The BOL board has even more QB eggspurts to guide Sark & Saban than we have here.

No. We are simply saying it could happen. And it could happen for a lot of reasons this season. Injury or COVID are just 2. If so, why not Young? In time, if neither happens, we may not be able to keep Young off the field, just because of the way he's moving the team. So what?

I personally think Jones is starting and has said so for months. I've also said that 2017 would be the model here. It doesn't have to be the model the entire season. I mean, Young's dad is saying that much. This is going to be one helluva year for attrition for all our guys and opponents. I would keep all my viable options open if I were you.

I’m not saying it won’t happen either. The guy I was originally responding to was acting like age was the sole reason Mac will be starting and why Hurts started in 2017.

Jones has enough experience to start the season. Any HC would put a value on that. I suspect with coach Saban's conservative nature it will stay that way for a lot of the season at best. Unless things go south in a hurry and this has been 2020 so far.

This isn’t 2017 because of COVID.

The Mac/Young deal could be Jalen/Tua all over again talent-wise, but Tua had a full spring and normal fall camp.

It’s not Lawrence/Bryant or Fields/Fromm either. Same reasons.

Bryce didn’t get a spring. And fall camp has been way different with the season pushed back and all the COVID concerns, all the way down to dining, classes, and team meetings.

Vets are going to get more of a preference than usual under these conditions, especially at a position like QB/Center/MLB where you’re responsible for getting other players in position. It’s just the nature of 2020. This has been far from the usual circumstances.

Not to mention, Young isn’t going to have cupcakes to get a lot of game experience.

Saban has talked about the extra importance of developing depth this season, due to potential impact of the pandemic on starters being quaratined, but he hasn't really indicated if he plans to give backups, including QB, more playing time than usual this season to help accomplish it. I'm interested to see if he does.

I think some of our fans watch recruiting rankings instead of the game. Comparing Mac to McElroy and JPW is disrespectful, Mac is a more than solid qb and has shown it.

Bryce had no spring but fans want to throw him out there and crown him Jesus without ever seeing him play a snap, I love Bryce and think he will be great, but can we let the kid at least take a snap before giving him the job?

Can't believe you guys are arguing over the quarterbacks without me. Just doesn't feel right. So let me end the debate.

Mac Jones doesn't have an elite arm but he is accurate and he knows the offense. He has a really nice deep ball and the guys have confidence in him. He needed work on the intermediate stuff but I think he got it down pat judging by scrimmage reports and Saban's positive feedback regarding his play this camp.

I hope Young lives up to the hype but I don't think we need him to be superman this year. He has a higher ceiling than Mac does but Mac is good enough to win the SEC and I think he is good enough to beat Clemson or Ohio St too.

Saban is as stubborn as a mule but I think he is willing to pull Mac and play Young should Mac struggle to move the offense assuming Young is indeed ready to play. We should honestly have the most explosive offense in America with two first rounders at reicever and a five star stable of RB's behind an elite OL. Can't wait.

The bottom line is if Mac gets injured or struggles Young is going in and then everyone can see what they need.

You think the only way BY gets meaningful playing time is if Mac gets hurt or completely fails to move the ball? I can’t imagine Saban will sit BY even if Mac is balling - BY will come in for select plays to get him ready.

This isn’t the same as the Jalen/Tua saga imo - similar, yes, but not the same. The main reason they aren’t the exact same scenarios, even more so than the talent comparison of Mac/Jalen and Tua/Bryce, is that Saban has now dealt with this type of situation before.

There is now pretty strong evidence of what will happen with young, super talented players sitting on the bench. You do not make BY doubt his decision to come to Bama.

It’s mind-blowing to me how someone’s birth year has that much weight in these decisions.

Tua is 6 months older than Hurts.

Come on people, if you're going to say stupid shite, don't make it that stupid.
