Why it might be a quiet year for true freshman QBs (247Sports) Young QBs may have to wait until midseason to make a move

The bottom line is if Mac gets injured or struggles Young is going in and then everyone can see what they need.

I think the defensive play will have a lot of say in who plays. If Young brings something to the table that Mac can’t then he will get a lot of time especially if we’re having to play keep up and the offense starts to struggle scoring at a fast enough pace. JMO of course.

No that’s not what i think. I think in order to start those 2 things must happen. I do think he will play situationally.

I mean yeah, if Mac struggles but if we are winning and he’s doing a good job, why would he start BY? Again i do think BY will play but in certain situations for reps and all that.

Edit: and unfortunately this year I can’t watch closed scrimmages so I’m at an unusual disadvantage.

Predicting Alabama's MVPs, breakout players for 2020 season (BOL | segment)

quote:

TOP NEWCOMER, OFFENSE

Quarterback Bryce Young

The pick: Bryce Young

Barring an unforeseen occurrence, Mac Jones will be the first quarterback to see the field when Alabama takes on Missouri. He has the most experience and has the confidence of the coaching staff and his teammates. But Young is going to play this fall -- it’s just a matter of when. The nation’s No. 1 overall recruit is a talented player but is lacking experience due to no spring practice and missing the Tide’s first of two scrimmages this fall. Alabama will look to get him opportunities in games. We’ll see whether that is early on or later in the game.

Don't see how Clemson can hang on to the #1 ranking with that schedule. They don't even play North Carolina, who happens to be one of only a few in the ACC who have a pulse. If they get by ND at South Bend, that's it.

I think as each week goes by in the SEC, and Bama takes care of business, the difference in schedules should be painfully obvious.

You'd be a lot happier if you were an Alabama fan first, and a player fan second.

If you have 3 football teams, all 3 oozing with 4-5 star all Americans, and one is being QB’d by Trevor Lawrence, one by Justin Fields, and one by Mac Jones, well, you better hope yours is the one that doesn’t have Mac.

It’s going to be pretty pathetic watching Fields/Lawrence be the difference makers while a player that could be better than both of them rots on our bench.

This stuff always plays itself out in time. By mid-season, we are going to know what we have and who we are on both sides of the LOS. I'm hoping for some good news in both cases.

Funny. I watched Jake Coker beat a loaded Clemson team QB’d by one of the 4 or 5 best quarterbacks in the NFL

They don't even play North Carolina

I think it was done intentionally. Outside of ND the few others currently ranked(Pitt, VT, UL, and Miami)will not finish that highly ranked. Both CU and UNC get ND with UNC getting them home. Both games near the end of the season. Assuring IMO 2 of those 3 rolling into the ACCCG ranked in the top 10 and locking in a spot for the playoffs.

Which made Clemson's game with Citadel over the weekend a much worse look.

If anyone got screwed may have been Nebraska. The one B1G school that wanted to play from the start and basically called out the other programs. Now 3 of their 1st 4 games are against the top 3 in the league starting at OSU for their 1st game.
