The upside to Ansley is that he isn't Pete Golding and UTk actually looked better on defense as the season progressed despite having a lot of young guys out there. The downside is that given his career arc thus far, if he does well he's here for 2 years max before someone hires him as a HC.

Coaching continuity doesn't mean a hill of beans with the wrong coaches in place. I'm not sold on Golding.

I think Bama just has to accept that fact under Saban, everyone loves his coaching tree.

Hell, Joe Judge is getting a lot of play right now. Saban's name is in the same sentence as Belichick's when people talk about JJ.

I also think it's much less of a deal defensively, if you identify the right guy to replace. Everything is the same terminology wise, all that changes is the tweaks that each coach has in terms of how they call stuff.

Offensively is a much bigger deal, IMHO.

I agree, glad Saban decided to open up his offensive beliefs to coincide with the evolving game.

At the very least, it allows a broader spectrum of candidates. Still have to find the right ones...

Ruggs just declared. So much for the guy who was "friends" with him on BOL.

Didn’t want to chime in at the time of all the hoopla. Rugfs to the league was unexpected. The staff and people inside the building already knew he was gone. I was told Ruggs was all Bama until this past Thursday/Friday. Mack Wilson got to him. He had signed with an agent already. The decision was already made. If Mack would have never gotten involved, he would have been back.

Happy for the kids leaving, good luck to them. I am just glad this is finally over. I think everyone has learned that unless they make it official on their social media platform it's not a done deal.
Looking forward to this years team, and a redeemed defense

My sauces are telling me that Belichick thinks Brady is going to retire and wants to work with his buddy Saban again before he hangs it up himself, so he's going to become our DC for a few years. Now this is obviously contingent on a few things like Brady retiring and the money being right and him being willing to show off his Super Bowl rings to all the croots, but if all that goes right there is a very real chance it happens.
