We're out. I don't even think it will be close.

I don’t know if we get in or not for sure either because who knows with this committee. A lot of us know it’s a real possibility so we won’t be surprised if we get left out.

But rest of the CFB world is pretty sure FSU gets in so imagine the fricking MELT if we do get in. All across the CFB world. I even some people last week claiming FSU should go ahead and claim a title if they get left out

But a lot more of them would tune in to watch a hypothetical UM - Bama game than a UM/Wash - FSU one

2017 everyone was 100% certain Ohio State would get in over Bama. We’ll see.

I can’t believe this will happen. What would it say about conference championship games? No 1 vs No 8, neither winning team gets in?

If that is the precedent, SEC should eliminate divisions and let the chips fall where they may. Best one or two teams will be a lock for a 12 team playoff.

I think we get in on merit, but I also believe cfp doesn’t want to tic off the sec, especially with p12 going away.

Besides, osu and Michigan the SEC will by far have the biggest draws with TX and OK joining. I mean, usc vs northwestern will be a ratings blockbuster, am I right?

There is a 12 team playoff coming, so whatever precedent they set tomorrow (leaving out an undefeated P5 team or the SEC champ) won’t matter because next year both would get in.

Any thoughts on our OL for next year. We lose the C and RT. That is a great nucleus to build around with experience coming back at the RB, WR, and QB group.

Also any defections vis the portal.

Should Bama not make the top 4 I would think some announcements would be coming.

I am resolved to be content if we dont make the CFP as winning the West and the SEC is Yuge.

On another note I see where 30 worked his way up to a starter at ILB and replaced 17. Ironically 17 recovered teh UGA fumble. Roll Dam Tide

Proctor at LT, Booker at LG, and Roberts at RG is a good core. I think the staff is high on the Brockmeyer (center type) which is why he didn't portal with his brother. It seems like RT is going to be the big competition.

Per a Charlie Potter post about Senior Day vs UT Chattanooga, only Reichard, Key and Dalcourt have exhausted their eligibility. So most would have the option to return - not sure who will do so.

No. 8/8/8 Alabama Upsets No. 1/1/1 Georgia, 27-24, to Capture 30th SEC Championship

The No. 8/8/8 Alabama football team secured a 27-24 upset win over No. 1/1/1 Georgia Saturday afternoon inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium. With the win, the Crimson Tide (12-1) secured the program's 30th Southeastern Conference Championship and the ninth under head coach Nick Saban.

Quarterback Jalen Milroe was named the game's Most Valuable Player after leading the team to its 11th consecutive victory. Milroe finished the contest with 221 total yards including 192 through the air on 13-of-23 passing and a pair of touchdowns.

Roydell Williams led the ground attack with 16 carries for 64 yards and a touchdown while Milroe contributed 29 yards with his legs. Isaiah Bond led the receiving corps with 79 yards on five receptions, while Jermaine Burton and Jam Miller each caught a touchdown pass in the win.

Defensively, Terrion Arnold led UA with six total tackles, including half a tackle for loss (-1 yard), to go along with a pass breakup. Malachi Moore and Trezmen Marshall each contributed five tackles and one TFL apiece with Marshall adding a key fumble recovery.

Notes
* Alabama head coach Nick Saban improved to 4-0 in SEC Championship games against Georgia and is now 5-0 against the Bulldogs all-time in the conference title game (1-0 while at LSU).
* Nine of the Crimson Tide's 30 SEC Championships have come under Saban, who improved to 9-1 in the conference's championship game at UA. Saban has guided Alabama to league crowns in 2009, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2020, 2021 and 2023.
* Alabama improved to 18-1 in games played in Atlanta during Saban's tenure, including 17 straight victories.
* The victory extended the Crimson Tide's NCAA record for wins over the Associated Press' No. 1 team to 11, eight of which have come under Saban.
* Under Saban, a total of nine first-year starting quarterbacks have maintained their starting role for 10-plus games of a season. All but one have won SEC Championships in their first season with only AJ McCarron not claiming a conference crown.
* With his first field goal of the game, Will Reichard became the NCAA's all-time career leader in points, breaking the previous record of 530 set by Keenan Reynolds. Reichard totaled nine points in the contest (three extra points, two field goals) and now has 539 career points.
* The SEC Championship game captains were Dallas Turner, Deontae Lawson and Tyler Booker.

Barn and Dawg fans are going to have a jiz fest if Bama is left out.

And the trees will be rolled within minutes of that announcement.
