Big First Quarter Propels No. 8/8/8 Alabama Past Kentucky, 49-21
The No. 8/8/8 Alabama football team scored 21 points in the first quarter and cruised Kentucky, 49-21, Saturday afternoon inside Kroger Field. With the victory, the Crimson Tide (9-1, 7-0) clinches the SEC West title as well as a spot in the league's championship game which will be played in Atlanta on Dec. 2.
Quarterback Jalen Milroe once again dominated the statistics enroute to the victory. One week after accounting for 374 total yards and four touchdowns in the win over LSU, the Tide signal-caller was responsible for six total touchdowns (three rush, three pass) against the Wildcats which ties for the second-most by any Alabama player in a game in program history. Milroe would go on to finish the game with 234 yards and three touchdowns through the air while running the ball eight times for 36 yards and another three scores.
A total of 10 different receivers had at least one catch on the day, led by Kobe Prentice's four catches for 74 yards and a score. Amari Niblack (2-38) and Roydell Williams (2-30) were also on the receiving end of Milroe touchdown passes for Alabama. Jase McClellan paced the Tide's run game with 43 yards on nine carries.
Alabama's Caleb Downs led the defense with 12 total tackles, including five solo tackles, to go with a half-sack. Jihaad Campbell added seven tackles, including one tackle for loss, to go with a fumble recovery that set-up a one-yard touchdown, a pass break-up and a quarterback hurry.
Notes

* Across his last two games, Milroe has been accountable for 644 total yards and 10 total touchdowns which include seven on the ground and three through the air

Georgia fans will continue to point to us only scoring 24 on Ole Miss or beating Arky 24-21 as to why we aren’t very good.
Being down 14-3 to S Car at half in Athens and only winning 24-14 isn’t a big deal, huh? Or barely beating Auburn.
Teams improve.
Alabama has the dudes up front. Speed at the skill positions.
Beck has had all day to throw easy passes all year…what happens when he faces actual pressure and his WRs are covered? He’s not a runner. That’s the key.
Let me shut up. Still have to beat Auburn to keep our playoff hopes alive. That won’t be easy.
Georgia has to play at Tenn and at GT before getting Bama. Those teams can’t beat Georgia but it’s still games they have to play before Bama. Not easy on your players.

The biggest thing I see in UGA,
Beck is never under pressure. Ever.
We can stop their run game.
Let’s see where that leaves us.

Beck's ADoT is super low. They're out-athleting people on the edge. It will be interesting to see if we can come up and tackle, feels like a big game for Campbell.

We will be the best they have seen on Defense and it’s not close. If we can’t, no one can in my opinion and they deserve to win.

ALABAMA: Dominant win. QB continues to make strides. Much better looking off defenders. Decisive when leaving pocket. Ad lib makes it so tough to defend. The pick was bad. They missed a few protections. RBs were better protecting. 81 had a big game in all facets. Got duo & split zone rolling late. 2 fun to watch when he's getting downhill. Tackled very well. Loved the pressure packages. Made them wrong often. Secondary was great in run support. 41 showed up again.

KENTUCKY: Game needed to go a certain direction & it took a sharp turn early. 0 was great on def. Pass rush got a bit off track, had to stay disciplined. Scramble drill a problem. Let eyes pull them out of plays. Pad level hit high late & got jumpy, took themselves out of gaps. Protection not good enough. Turned rushers free. Missed stunts. There were times the ball needed to get out. Missed a few throws. Timing/rythm just wasn't there. Couldn't get playmakers enough touches. 26 showed us something.

Alabama's Jalen Milroe and Dallas Turner each earned semifinalist recognition by the Maxwell Football Club, the organization announced Monday morning. Milroe was named a semifinalist for the Maxwell while Turner was a part of the semifinalist list for the Bednarik.
Milroe is one of 17 semifinalists for the Maxwell Award, presented annually to the nation's top offensive player. Turner is part of a group of 20 semifinalists for the Bednarik Award which is given to college football's top defensive player. Finalists for both honors will be named on Nov. 28 with the 2023 winners announced live on ESPN as part of the Home Depot College Football Awards on Dec. 4.

Iron Bowl to be at 2:30pm CT on CBS.

Lot of sad matchups for the SEC that weekend outside of the Iron Bowl:
- Ole Miss vs. a bad MSU team who fired their HC. Primetime on Thanksgiving.
- A good Mizzou team that will kill Arkansas who will be about to fire their HC. On Black Friday afternoon.
- LSU vs. Texas A&M who will have an interim HC.
- A top 5 FSU team that will kill a bad Florida team.
- A top 5 UGA that will kill Georgia Tech.
Maybe Clemson vs. USCe and Louisville vs. UK will be decent games.

No injuries were mentioned in the presser so that is a good sign. Curious to see who all is held out this week.

Per Potter, only Dalcourt, Key and Reichard have exhausted their eligibility
