What an incredibly special day in Tuscaloosa. Spectacular weather, electric atmosphere and, as mentioned in another thread, broke the decibel record in BDS when the interception happened.

Not sure what all they showed on TV but UA pulled out all the stops. They got the crowd going from the start when they announced James Spann as the guest conductor for the National Anthem. He shed his jacket to reveal his signature suspenders (and a houndstooth tie) as he took the podium.

During the commercial break at the start of the 4th quarter the cheerleaders do flips across the length of the south end zone and it is shown on the Jumbotrons. Ladies first and then the guys. The guy that goes last gets major air as he flips across the end zone. Last night they lined up some cheerleaders and Deontae Wilder and he flipped over them:

Kid Rock was in the house and on the sideline last night.

TBH, I’d have to put a few bucks in myself…

Alabama DC Kevin Steele might owe the swear jar a few bucks after his halftime speech, per CB Terrion Arnold, but it was a small price for a 42-28 win

Quarterback Jalen Milroe finished with 374 total yards and four rushing touchdowns to lead the No. 8/8/8 Alabama football team past No. 14/13/13 LSU, 42-28, Saturday night in front of a sold-out crowd at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

As a team, the Crimson Tide (8-1, 6-0 SEC) combined to run for a season-high 288 yards and six touchdowns on the ground in the victory. Milroe finished the game with 155 rushing yards, the fifth-most by a UA quarterback in a game in school history, while his four rushing touchdowns were the most-ever by an Alabama signal-caller. Jase McClellan (14-63) and Roydell Williams (6-56) also found paydirt for the Tide, which closed the night with an average of 6.3 yards per tote (46 carries).

In addition to the ground attack, Milroe accounted 219 yards through the air on 15-of-23 passing for the night, with Isaiah Bond leading the wide receivers with five catches for 60 yards. Defensively, Caleb Downs had a game-high 13 tackles including nine solo stops.

LSU (6-3, 4-2) was led by Jayden Daniels' 382 total yards and three touchdowns in the losing effort, as he finished with 163 yards on 11 rushes and 219 yards passing on 15-of-24 through the air.

Notes
* With the win, head coach Nick Saban surpasses former Georgia head coach Vince Dooley for the second-most SEC wins at one school (202). Saban trails only former Alabama legendary coach Paul "Bear" Bryant with 224 SEC victories.
* With his six extra points Alabama kicker Will Reichard became just the fourth collegiate football player to surpass 500 points in a career (502) as he moves into third on the NCAA all-time scoring leaders
* The Alabama defense allowed just seven points in the second half which marked the seventh time across its nine games this season that the Tide has allowed seven or fewer second half points
* Saban improves to 22-2 when avenging a previous loss (last season's 32-31 overtime loss in Baton Rouge). The only two times the Crimson Tide has fallen in back-to-back games against the same opponent is LSU (2010-11) and Ole Miss (2014-15).
* Saban finished with a perfect 4-0 league mark at home this season, marking the 10th season at Alabama that he has led the Tide to an unbeaten home record in conference play
* The last time that an Alabama team scored 40 or more points without a passing touchdown came in a 52-3 victory over Arkansas on Oct. 1, 2020 (six rushing, 1 punt return)
* With 507 yards of total offense, Alabama has now gained 400 or more yards in 63 of the last 78 games while also scoring 40 or more points in 50 of the last 78 contests
* With the game knotted at 21-all at intermission, the Crimson Tide outscored the Tigers 14-7 0 in the third quarter to take the lead for good. For the season, Alabama has dominated the third quarter of play, outscoring the competition, 93-31

Gameday should have had Deontae Wilder and Kid Rock as co- guest pickers…
Now that would have been good tv!

Also: Alabama has given up a grand total of 13 second half points in wins over LSU, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Texas A&M.

Just go ahead and give the Broyles Award (top assistant) to Kevin Steele.

Kevin Steele is the hero we needed to lead this defense. He knows Saban, the system, and the mentality for an old school hard nosed defense! Glad to have him!

It was a fun night. That second half was special, Saturday night, LSU, stadium rocking. This is getting better every week, like watching your kid grow. I think we forget how young we are on offense. No matter what happens, this team has made me proud with the fight they have in them to get better every day.

I saw a thread on the Tiger Rant that asked about the experience at BDS. Other than a few snarky answers, I was surprised at how overwhelmingly positive they said it was. Some even said it put TS to shame, which is a lot to admit.

I’m glad Bama has stepped up the fan experience, the recruits and their families have to be wowed by what they saw last night.

Cole Cubelic’s takeaways

quote:

ALABAMA: Huge win. Great job limiting freebies for the other WRs. They got one early then Bama made it more difficult. 92 had a really nice game. 13 with some huge plays. 15 off the edge just got better of the course of the game. Liked the speed packages with 15 inside & 34 on field! Stayed fairly disciplined with rush but still didn't matter some. 2 made nice open field tackles. 3 was solid. 41 made some things happen. QB was super poised. Pocket was so close to breaking down, showed great patience then very deliberate when leaving. Designed QB runs helped. Couple new wrinkles from the OC I haven't seen this year. Milroe incredible on 3rd down. Ground game helped control game late. OL pretty good for the most part. 52 & 65 had some nice finishes. Liked how 2 got downhill. TEs & RBs helped with chips. Didn't panic or press & ultimately I thought that was the difference.
quote:

LSU: Tough one. QB absurd. Not the same without him. Broke the defense down with multiple big runs. Tackles struggled a little. Thought middle of OL was solid. Felt like they would try to go at them some with 3 but never really happen. 8 was amazing. Collectively a few big drops & QB missed a few throws he normally makes. DTs got shoulders turned a little too much. Needed more disruption in the middle. Eyes played tricks on them. Took themselves out of some plays at 2nd & 3rd level. 30 really good. 4 played hard. Went toe to toe. The pick was too much to overcome.

through 9 games, the alabama defense has played:

# 1 offense
# 12 offense
# 13 offense
# 18 offense
# 21 offense

they’ve given up (19 ppg) in those contests.
