Simpson needs to start against OM.

If we’re struggling to move the ball after 1Q then it’s Milroe’s team from here out.

For me, if Simpson can avoid the turnovers and complete more that 60% of his passes, then he should be QB1

Milroe is going to have at least one pick per game and hit one long ball per game. For me, the turnovers outweigh the explosive plays.

ETA we’re forgetting just how bad JM cannot read a defense.

What does it matter if he doesn't turn the ball over if we are only putting up 14 points a game?!

Folks out here spiking the football over no turnovers when we passed for 100 yards and attempted 3 passes all day more than 10 yards downfield. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills.

Of course he didn’t do anything bad, because he hardly did anything at all. One of us could have played QB yesterday and gotten the same result.

You’ve got to be able to move the ball and score in today’s game. Simply not turning it over, alone, won’t cut it.

I know y’all feel like it’s back to Stallings days but I’ll take a W and 17 points over a L and 35 points every week.

Got this from a guy 9n Twitter. Not sure if it’s true

quote:

Milroe didn’t play yesterday because he could not explain his reads from the Texas game during film study and he did not respond well in practice last week when he learned the other QBs would receive an opportunity. To his credit, he was very supportive yesterday.

I have a hard time believing this. But just for arguments sake let's say it is true. How has no one caught this during his time on campus? That is a complete failure on the coach's part

There is no explanation he could possibly give on either of the 2 ints. There were several he held onto that had guys running open. His lack of vision/understanding is what a lot of people see that make us hesitant to go back to him.

I have no inside sources on this or anything, but I tend to believe this. He has serious issues with reading things. It’s 100% on the coaches. They have to know this. It’s their job to help him.

I can’t think of the coach we hired that helped Hurts so much. He left like a coward, but he truly helped Hurts

There were multiple times during the Texas game where Herbstreit pointed out receivers were open that Milroe didn’t see.

It's just so basic it blows my mind that he made it to college football without being able to read a defense. I mean, I see it in the games especially Texas. But that is just unreal

You're thinking of Dan Enos I think

Thank y’all. Dan Enos is the guy. He helped Hurts more than anyone else. Milroe could be helped, but we aren’t coaching him. We aren’t calling plays that work for him. This is a complete injustice to our players. They need to be coached better. They need to be coached. Freddie Roach is robbing us. The Oline coach is robbing us. The WR coach is robbing us. The truth is, No established coaches want to work for Saban.

You had everything right until this last line. Established coaches would be happy to come to Bama and get “coach for Saban,” on their résumé. Unfortunately, Saban doesn’t want guys who he thinks can get a head coaching job any time soon, any more.

Lane Kiffin said #OleMiss is preparing for an Alabama defense coordinated by Travaris Robinson and not Kevin Steele:

“We’ve been against Kevin a number of times. Worked with him at Alabama and against him at Auburn and LSU. There seems like there’s been a change there. I don’t know what happened after the Texas game, but our guys watching the TV copy and schematically in this last game, certainly seems like T-Rob’s now calling the defense. We played him before at South Carolina, so we’re preparing accordingly for him calling the defense. He’s done a good job, too, and they’ve got really good players.”

That may explain why Saban agreed with Rees to bring Buchner in? Buchner may have been a security blanket in the event they could not get Millroe's ability to read the defense up to speed and/or they could not get Simpson ready in time.

I suspect Saban felt he had to go with Millroe due to his leadership possition with the team. Back during Fall camp, I questioned the way Saban was handling Simpson. Asking if he may be putting Simpson in a possition of duress/stress with the 2nd / 3rd string to see if his leadership skills would come forward.

We’ll just agree to disagree. Look at Saban’s most valuable assistants. Look at his coordinators. He saves careers because no one else wants to work for him. These guys that he saves are talented. He hires them because hey are untouchable. Kiffin was left on the tarmac. He had nothing. Sark was the same. They worked with Saban, because they had no choice. Kiffin is trying to leverage for the Bama job right now

(The truth is, No established coaches want to work for Saban.) . .Why can't Saban get good assistants anymore ? Is it because he is supposedly a slave driver to work for or what?

Who is that great coach right now that needs rehabbing? Hell most of them get TV jobs no matter how bad they did at their previous gig. The CBS executives would be on the tarmac to pickup Kiffen and take him to the studio if he got fired nowadays.
